There are several viewpoints in this area that provide an amazing view of the city of Angra do Heroísmo, the Monte Brasil volcano and Vila de São Mateus. On most days, depending on the weather conditions, you may even be surprised with a view to the island of São Jorge and the island of Pico with its imposing mountain. A few steps and you have a view to Ilhéu das Cabras, Ilhéu dos Fradinhos and the entire south coast. Several stunning spots to photograph, lots of cows and green fields with typical dry stone walls.
Descended and begin the path to the depths of the earth on this visit to "Algar do Carvão" cave. An ancient dormant volcano, in this cave visitors can descend to a depth of around 100 meters (330 feet), and observe stalactites that are unique in the world due to their silicate characteristics, and an underground lagoon with crystal clear waters.
