From Deer Harbor we explore the nearby Wasp Islands—a group of small islands and channels once popular with smugglers. A variety of wildlife is often seen as we cruise this area. Special trips from Deer Harbor include summer moonlight tours, bioluminescence tours, and spring wildflower tours.
Shearwater provides 2-person kayaks, all necessary kayaking gear, dry storage bags, basic instruction and guide service.
Participants bring: appropriate clothing for the day as if going for a day hike (light, warm layers are good), wind breaker or light rain coat, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, drinking water.
No kayaking experience is required. At this location we have 2 seats for children 7-10 years old (in special "triple" kayaks with 2 older paddlers), otherwise the minimum age is 11 years. Exceptions can sometimes be made on designated "Family Trips". Call for details.
All of our tours include 20-30 minutes of gear adjustment and basic instruction. Expect 2¼ - 2½ hours on the water on this tour.
