Before dawn you leave Ouarzazate in a private 4x4, headlights cutting through predawn dust as the High Atlas recedes. The Draa Valley slips by—palm groves and mud-brick villages—until the road gives way to tracks and the Sahara opens. By sunset at Chegaga the dunes rise and shift like a living wall, erasing footprints overnight and daring you to climb for the orange-and-purple horizon.
