You arrive before dawn in Morogoro after a swift SGR run from Dar es Salaam; the train drops you closer to the wild and the air immediately tastes of dust and green. On day one you trade metal rails for forest trails, hiking under the low canopies of the Udzungwa Mountains until Sanje Waterfalls appears—water daring you to step closer and the humidity pressing like a warm palm.

The tour uses the SGR fast train to Morogoro (Kihonda) which cuts over an hour from road travel; transfers from the station to the parks are included per itinerary.
The itinerary lists multiple breakfasts, lunches and dinners included—confirm whether park entrance fees are covered when booking as policies can vary.
The trip requires moderate fitness and includes hikes and vehicle transfers; it’s not recommended for travelers with serious spinal or cardiovascular issues and may be challenging for very young children.
Common sightings include elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and, with luck, lions or hyenas; Udzungwa adds endemic primates and abundant birdlife, but sightings are never guaranteed.
