The first light of an eastern Ugandan morning turns the Nile into a strip of silver as your vehicle climbs toward Jinja; later the road ascends again into the green ribs of Mount Elgon’s foothills where Sipi Falls thunders through a series of cliffs. On day one the trip opens with a short adrenaline jolt — a zipline over the Nile’s rapids — then a stroll to Busowoko Falls where the current dares you to dip a toe.
