You step out before dawn into a thin, cold light and the escarpment answers with a slow, clarifying wind. Sherman's Cave holds the smell of hot coffee and damp rock; above, Cathedral Peak rises in stacked sandstone spires that seem to dare you to climb. Over three days the trail moves from grassy berg slopes into exposed rock ribs, finishing on a summit rim at roughly 3,004 m with views across the Northern and Central Drakensberg.

Expect a long day: ~14 km with just over 1,000 m gain, sustained uphill hiking and a final exposed scramble section—guides rig safety lines where needed.
