Dawn breaks over the Rift Valley and the road northward hums with possibility — acacia silhouettes and steam vents punctuate the horizon as you leave Nairobi behind. On this three-day route you move between alkaline lakes and volcanic outcrops: Lake Nakuru’s pink bands of flamingos, the geyser-studded shorelines of Lake Bogoria, and the red-streaked gorges of Hell’s Gate where bikes and boots meet wind-carved rock.
