Dawn in the high Andes arrives thin and bright — you leave Cusco before sunrise, the van cutting through serrated peaks as the air sharpens with altitude. Day one threads the archaeological curves of Moray’s circular terraces and the salt mirrors at Maras; terraces seem to hold different climates like stacked microclimates, while the salt pans glint like small, orderly lakes.

The trail is short but steep at altitude — expect a 6–8 km round trip with roughly 600–700 m of ascent from the usual trailhead; moderate to strong fitness helps.
Acclimatization is recommended; the operator provides an oxygen tank and first aid, but travelers should consult a physician about preventive medication like acetazolamide if concerned.
Downhill biking, zipline and rafting are guided and suitable for participants with basic fitness and no serious heart conditions; guides offer instruction and safety gear.
