We use standard 80 CF. Smaller tanks are available upon request. Larger tanks are not possible due to boat configuration.

About the Tour

Rated as one of the top 100 dives in the world, the Cathedrals are a “bucket list” dive for any scuba diver. The two dive sites we call Cathedrals are vast caverns where rocks have fallen from the ceiling allowing sun rays to shine through the crystal clear water creating a church-like experience. There's no need for a cave or cavern specialty to enjoy Cathedrals as these caverns are accessible for proficient Open Water divers. Besides being dazzled by the Cathedrals themselves, divers can expect to see healthy corals, nudibranchs, octopus, sponge crabs, frog fish, eels, endemic fish, and reef sharks.

In addition to the Cathedrals, Lanai is host to 20+ other fantastic dive sites. We love diving the unique underwater topography of caverns, lava shoots, swim throughs, and arches that are shaped by the island’s volcanic past – and you will too! Every Cathedrals 2-tank boat trip begins with a dive at another site on Lanai to help divers get comfortable in the water before entering the caverns but that doesn’t mean these are not world class dives in their own right. Expect to see healthy corals, nudibranchs, frog fish, octopus, turtles, reef sharks, eels, endemic fish, and more at these sites.

Your experienced captain will determine the days sites based on conditions but you can expect to dive Lanai’s famous Cathedrals along with other locations. Our group sizes are small and you will receive special attention from your instructor who will guide you on 2 exceptional dives and answer all of your questions about the marine life. Dolphins and whales are frequent visitors and we always stop when they are spotted.

Vessel Info

Our custom built zodiac raft, Hoku, is the fastest and most comfortable boat that crosses the channel to the island of Lanai and a convenient water entry vessel style. Fresh water shower onboard, no toilet.

Diver Requirements

• Open water certified or higher, 14 years or older. Dove in the last 18 months. No exceptions. Moderate physical fitness. If it has been more than eighteen months since the last dive, please contact us to discuss scheduling a refresher dive. We will not allow divers who have been out of the water for more than eighteen months on the Lanai boat charter. Upon successful completion of a refresher dive we will be happy to help you book a boat dive trip.
• Due to safety concerns, no pregnant women or people with back or neck injuries or children
• Please no spray sunscreen.

What to Bring

• In addition to gear, please bring a towel, sunscreen, hat and sunglasses.

Cancellation Policy

• There is a 48 hour cancellation policy on all cancellations and rescheduling of dives. Dive Maui is not responsible for cancellations due to a guests' failure to complete coursework needed before a dive or for illness.
• Tour is subject to cancellation or reschedule due to weather or capacity.
