Morning light slices through giant figs as a skiff slips away from Drake Bay and the ocean begins to dare you with glints of dolphin and sea turtle. An hour and change later you step onto Sirena’s broad sand and follow short, flat trails into a young forest—47 years into regrowth—where coatis and agoutis move with casual curiosity and birds treat the canopy like a highway.

The San Pedrillo leg is moderate: expect uneven, sometimes muddy trails and a faster pace to maximize wildlife opportunities—good stamina and steady footing are helpful.

Common sightings include capuchin and howler monkeys, coatis, agoutis, scarlet macaws, and, with luck, tayras or big cats—predators are elusive and sightings can’t be guaranteed.
Shelter is basic and functional—expect a roofed communal space and simple sleeping arrangements; bring a dry bag and lightweight sleeping liner for comfort.
