We have a variety of rental options! Please note that our rentals are by calendar day and not 24 hour period. Each rental includes boat(s), paddling equipment, and cartopping equipment. Every person who will be using a boat is required to sign a release of liability and participate in a basic safety talk provided by a member of the SRCO Staff. The person responsible for the reservation will be required to read and sign our damage and return policy document.
Kevlar: Lightweight. This option is good for lake to lake trips with portages. We suggest Kevlar canoes for most overnight trips in the area.
T-Formex: Durable but heavier. This option is good for anyone who is looking to save a bit of money, but doesn't mind having extra weight. This option is not recommended for trips with long portages. It is a good option if you plan to be in moving water or encounter obstacles (beaver dams).
Kayak: We generally recommend kayaks only for day trips or specific overnights. The overnight paddling routes in the Adirondacks generally require portaging, which is not enjoyable with a kayak. Our kayaks are recreational, and do not have a ton of storage space for overnight gear.
Pack Boat: These are great for people who prefer to kayak, but need to be able to portage. These are open boats (like a canoe) which are paddled with a kayak paddle. They are extraordinarily light, making them a fantastic option for solo paddlers on overnight trips. Please note that the Wee Lassies have a lower weight capacity than the Placid Boatworks boats.
If you are not sure which type of boat to book, we would be happy to talk it through with you. We want to be sure you have the best time possible!
Kevlar canoes are lightweight and ideal for lake-to-lake trips with portages, while T-Formex models suit moving water but add weight.
All renters must attend a safety talk and sign a liability release before heading out on the water.
Expect to carry your canoe or kayak between some lakes; pack accordingly with durable gear and lighter boats.
Keep an eye on local forecasts—afternoon thunderstorms are common in spring and summer Adirondacks.
The Adirondack Park, created in 1892, is the largest publicly protected area in the U.S. east of the Mississippi and has long supported a tradition of wilderness boating.
St. Regis Canoe Outfitters supports Leave No Trace principles and encourages renters to minimize impact on fragile shoreline and wildlife habitats.
Ensures safety on the water and is included with every rental.
Keep your gear and clothing dry during paddling and portages.
Quick-drying layers help manage fluctuating temperatures on the water.
