About Military Aviation Museum
Military Aviation Museum preserves and shares historic aircraft, educational programs, and flight experiences for young learners and sightseers. Located near Virginia Beach, the museum operates immersive youth camps, homeschool days, and open-cockpit biplane rides that blend aviation history with hands-on STEM learning. Camp offerings include Junior Aviation Adventure Camp (ages 6–8), Explorer Aviation Adventure Camp (ages 9–12), Senior Aviation Adventure Camp (ages 13–15), Explorer and Junior Spies and Ciphers Camps (ages 6–12), Explorer and Senior Flight Factory Camps (ages 9–15), and a Senior RC Camp focused on remote-controlled aircraft design and piloting. Homeschool Days provide curriculum-aligned, interactive sessions for students aged 7–12. The signature 1941 Stearman biplane ride offers a 30-minute open-cockpit flight above the Virginia Beach area and includes a safety briefing plus museum admission.
Instruction is delivered by trained museum educators and aviation professionals who emphasize safety, historical context, and practical skills—flight simulation, cockpit familiarization, wind tunnel testing, aircraft maintenance basics, and code-breaking activities inspired by wartime intelligence. Each week-long session mixes structured lessons, project-based learning, and culminating challenges such as spy hunts, RC flight demonstrations, or public showcases of student-built models.
The museum leverages authentic aircraft, archival artifacts, and hands-on equipment to spark curiosity and prepare participants for further study in aerospace, engineering, and aviation history. Parents and educators choose the Military Aviation Museum for its unique combination of historic aircraft access, STEM-focused curriculum, and memorable flight experiences. Programs run seasonally with flexible registration, clear safety protocols, and documented educational outcomes for participating students and families locally.
