You step off the vehicle into humid forest air and the low, distant call of a bird — the first breath of a 16‑day loop that cuts across Uganda’s most intense wild places. Beginning at Entebbe on Lake Victoria, the route moves from reed-lined Mabamba Swamps where shoebills stand motionless, east to Jinja’s pulsing Source of the Nile, then north to Murchison Falls where the Nile is forced through a 7‑metre gorge. Mountain slopes give way to the dense, mossy stands of Kibale and the dark canopy of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest where gorilla families move with surprising deliberation.

Good cardiovascular fitness and hiking stamina recommended—treks can last 2–6 hours on uneven terrain
This itinerary lists gorilla permits and activity fees as included—confirm permit names and dates at booking and carry the permit to the briefing.
Trek difficulty varies—gorilla treks may require several hours over steep, muddy terrain; a moderate to high fitness level is advised.
Expect elephants, buffalo, antelope, hippos and a diversity of birdlife on game drives and boat trips, with Kazinga Channel and Lake Mburo noted for concentrated sightings.
Rafting on the Nile out of Jinja is conducted by licensed operators with safety briefings and guides; choose providers with appropriate safety equipment and experience.
The regions visited span the western Rift highlands and colonial trade routes; conservation tourism, especially gorilla permits, plays a major role in local economies.
Gorilla and chimp trekking are tightly regulated to limit disease transmission and disturbance; stick to guide rules, keep distance, and avoid visiting when ill.
