About

The half day McKenzie rafting trip is our most popular. It is perfect for small and large groups, kids and veteran river folk alike. We offer two launch times to choose from daily. Morning and Afternoon trips meet at 9:00 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. at one of our three per-designated McKenzie River locations. (We generally launch 45min-1hr after we meet, drive for 7 miles, change into river gear, safety talk...) Before Memorial Day and after Labor Day we highly recommend our mid-day trips, meeting at 11:30am. This takes advantage of the warmer mid day weather for that time of year. In McKenzie Bridge, we meet in the west parking lot of the McKenzie Christian church located 300 feet downriver from the McKenzie General store (our past office location) or at the upper overflow parking area of Belknap Resort and Hot Springs. These are only a short drive from Eugene or Bend, Oregon. (Belknap adult guests receive a discount on all 1/2 day rafting trips.) In early spring & fall, we offer trips meeting at 11:20am to take advantage of the warmest part of the day. After the initial paper work and introductions have taken place, we load into our vans and head up to the boat launch.

Our booking office from Belknap Hot springs and the McKenzie General store has moved.

We provide everyone with all necessary paddling gear once we reach the boat launch. This includes paddle jackets (a nylon top with neoprene wrists and neck cuffs), Wet-Suits and booties. These items are provided on cooler days or by request and free of charge. After a thorough safety and equipment orientation, we launch and begin our adventure. This is generally 30 minutes or so from the time we meet.

We work as a team on the river maneuvering our way through fun continuous rapids and old growth forests. You'll have the opportunity to engage in fun water activities such as water fighting, river games and of course the entertaining experience with your guides. You may also encounter Osprey and Blue Herons fishing along the way. The river is crystal clear the entire way, full of history and is a diverse river eco-system. All of our guides are well versed in the river history, flora and fauna. Most of High Country’s guides are local to the rivers they guide!

The trips are approximately 14 river miles long depending on water levels. You are always guaranteed approximately 2+ hours on the river. At the end of the trip, we load the gear onto our trailers and take you back to one of our per-designated McKenzie River locations where we met you.
