Wentworth Golf Club

Jackson, New Hampshire, USAWhite Mountains

Wentworth Golf Club in Jackson, New Hampshire features an 18-hole parkland course marked by manageable length and strategic play. Known for its covered bridge and gently contoured greens, it offers an accessible challenge amid New England’s scenic mountain backdrop.

Course Overview

Wentworth Golf Club offers an 18-hole layout that blends traditional parkland characteristics with a distinctive New England flavor. Located in Jackson, New Hampshire, this member-friendly course invites a variety of players to engage with its approachable yet occasionally challenging terrain. Stretching approximately 5,500 yards from the back tees with a par of 70, Wentworth emphasizes precision over raw distance, making shot placement and short game finesse critical components of success.

The course meanders through wooded corridors punctuated by open fairways, providing a mix of sheltered play and strategic exposure to prevailing winds—a subtle but real factor that influences club selection as the day unfolds. A unique feature is the covered bridge that carts pass through, lending a quaint charm and a memorable moment between holes. The fairways generally slope gently, and the greens, though smaller in scale, are carefully contoured, encouraging thoughtful putting lines.

While younger players and low handicaps will find opportunities to challenge their accuracy and creativity, the course's manageable length and forgiving tee shots allow mid- to high-handicap golfers to enjoy a full round without undue frustration. The natural terrain and modest elevation changes provide visual interest without demanding extreme physical exertion, making walking a feasible and enjoyable option.

Amenities include a well-maintained clubhouse that serves as a comfortable gathering spot before or after rounds. The club’s welcoming atmosphere enhances the overall experience, combining classic golf traditions with relaxed camaraderie. Visitors should be aware that ongoing maintenance can affect playability, and periods of increased pace-of-play due to tournament scheduling may impact timing. Planning morning tee times helps avoid delays and ensures a smooth outing.

Wentworth Golf Club stands out for its scenic yet practical design, delivering a straightforward golf experience in the heart of New England’s White Mountains region. The course complements the local environment without overwhelming it, creating an inviting setting that honors the simple joy of the game.

Course Highlights

I played Wentworth Golf Club a number of years ago while on a vacation throughout New England. We enjoyed the round and it was interesting driving our cart through the covered bridge on the course. First time we've ever seen that!

We love Wentworth for scenery and decent layout. Disappointed with the recent visit where carts for 9 holes only after 3pm. The website does not mention this limitation. Most good courses require carts to be returned by sunset or predetermined time, not 5:10 when you have a 3:10 tee time. I will think twice before booking Wentworth after 3.

Awesome place to play, the views were amazing, the river running right next to a bunch of holes and the whole family saw the local black bear. Even tho we only got 7 holes in it was worth the price

We went to play (2 of us) while on vacation and the course was a far cry from what I grew up playing. The fairways were a mess, mostly roped off and large chunks of dirt all over. It was atrocious. Worst part was we paid $85 each to get sent out behind an elderly women’s golf tournament and they never said a word of warning. We got through 7 holes until the 20 minute wait on every single tee box sent us packing. The one shining light was the really nice cart kid who listened to us complain as we left. 😂 We won’t be back, sadly.

beautiful day was the only saving grace. no starter or ranger is a severe misstep. paid 85 per person and ended up waiting 15 minutes on every tee. greens and tee boxes were in extremely rough shape. very disappointing considering the price and condition of the course. they need to send out a ranger and have a starter if they are charging 85 per person for a 5500 yard muni in bad shape

A lot of the fairways are being repaired but overall was a fun course. We played the front 9 took us about 2 1/2 hours. Place was busy.
