Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club

Trempealeau, Wisconsin, USAWestern Wisconsin

Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club presents a thoughtfully designed 18-hole public course that emphasizes strategic play through elevated greens and native fescue-lined fairways. Its gently rolling terrain offers a welcoming yet subtly demanding round for golfers of varied skill levels near Trempealeau, Wisconsin.

Course Overview

Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club offers an 18-hole public layout that sets itself apart with its blend of accessible play and subtle challenges, perfect for golfers seeking a well-maintained course in western Wisconsin. Situated near Trempealeau, the course unfolds across a gently rolling landscape rather than the hilly terrain its name might suggest, creating a playing field that feels inviting without sacrificing interest. This openness lets each hole breathe, allowing players to appreciate the surrounding natural features, including stretches of native fescue and carefully placed bunkers that frame several greens with purpose.

The course demands strategic thinking, particularly with its elevated greens that test approach shots and putting skills alike. These greens offer true roll and, combined with well-trimmed fairways, reward precision without penalizing casual golfers too harshly. The layout supports all skill levels, with longer tee boxes for those ready to challenge their distances and shorter options to encourage solid, confident play for newcomers or those aiming just to enjoy their round.

Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club maintains a reputation for solid conditioning. Fairways are neatly cut, and rough areas provide enough challenge to influence club selection but remain manageable. The presence of tall fescue rough adds a layer of strategy, demanding accuracy off the tee but not punishing players who stray slightly from the fairway.

Cart use is complemented by GPS units; however, players may encounter occasional inconsistencies in geo-fencing alerts, which warrant a relaxed approach to navigation. The clubhouse atmosphere leans toward straightforward and functional, focusing on the essentials rather than luxury, with beverage service available but with limited hours during peak times.

For golfers planning a visit, late afternoon rounds can provide better rates and a more relaxed pace. While the course can become busy on weekends, especially with larger groups, early tee times tend to offer a more consistent experience. Footwear with good traction will help on the occasional sloping greens and fescue areas, especially if weather conditions leave the ground soft.

Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club strikes a balance between challenge and enjoyment, making it an inviting destination for players who appreciate a course that rewards thought and shot-making in a modest, scenic setting.

Course Highlights

Known for its elevated greens that offer challenging putts, Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club integrates native fescue roughs and strategically placed bunkers that shape play without overwhelming the golfer. Despite its name, the course exhibits a relatively flat and open layout, enhancing playability while still demanding thoughtful shot placement.

Excellent service and a very well maintained course. After getting rained out midway through the back nine our group was having a beverage in the clubhouse. One of the attendants proactively asked us if our round had been rained out and offered us a rain check (in the form of a gift card) for our missed holes. Well done!

Pretty good quality course but had a somewhat tight layout. Greens were in good shape and rolled all over for challenging putts. Fairways cut nicely, roughs a little long, and fescue all over. Many elevated greens. Gps carts were a bonus but many times it warned incorrectly when cart was on the path. Clubhouse wasnt bad but nothing for a pro shop. Rates were ok but watch for late afternoon rates to make it a little better. Thought the course played well but wish the course would handle watching play pace a little better as the round ran so long with the modules warning about being behind pace. Also couldn't believe how early the beverage cart went in on a Saturday with people all over the course.

To Whom It May Concern, I wanted to share feedback regarding my group’s experience at your course on Sunday, June 1, 2025. While we greatly enjoyed the course itself and found the carts to be in excellent condition, our experience during check-in left much to be desired. When we arrived, we waited patiently at the front desk for about five minutes while the staff member, who we heard identify herself as Shyann, was in a back office. When she eventually came to the desk, she seemed visibly irritated and made us feel as though assisting us was a burden. We had inquired about a cooler with drinks and asked if we could get a mix, which was met with more attitude and what felt like frustration on her part. When it came time for me to pay for my portion of our group, I stated clearly that I just wanted to pay for my part of the golfing and didn’t need anything else. I had to state this multiple times as she repeatedly asked, “What?” and looked at me with disgust like I was saying something wrong, it left both myself and my group confused and uncomfortable. I don’t golf often, so I initially thought perhaps I was saying something incorrectly, but the rest of my group found the interaction just as awkward and off-putting. I genuinely felt that Shyann was either unwilling or unable to engage with customers in a respectful or professional manner, and it unfortunately tainted an otherwise enjoyable outing. In addition, we noticed that on several holes, the geo-fencing system in the carts would trigger even when we were clearly on or near the cart path, which became frustrating. I’m not usually one to leave negative feedback, but I believe in providing honest input so that improvements can be made. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as the overall experience at your course (outside of this interaction) was very good. It’s disappointing to feel unwelcome right at check-in, especially at a course of this caliber. Thank you for your time, Ashley

Paid $120 for 2 players. Little high. But the big issue was that had a 5 players in front of us and would not let use play thru Really slowed the round. Didn't know this course let 5 players per tee time.
