Course Overview
Beechwood Golf Course offers an inviting golf experience marked by a classic 18-hole layout that challenges players while remaining accessible to golfers of various skill levels. Located in Arcanum, Ohio, this public course spreads across gently rolling terrain punctuated by well-defined fairways and strategically placed hazards. The course’s design emphasizes straightforward playability, making it an appealing option for those seeking an enjoyable round without an overwhelming test of golf.
The landscape is characterized by open stretches of fairway bordered by pockets of mature trees, which add both visual interest and a degree of difficulty when errant shots stray from the intended target line. Bunkers shape several greenside areas, though many have softened over time, presenting subtle strategic elements rather than punishing traps. The greens themselves vary in contour, demanding careful approach shots and thoughtful putting to navigate the breaks effectively.
Beechwood’s setting offers a relaxed atmosphere that suits weekend players, casual groups, and those new to the game. The course’s moderate length allows for brisk rounds, while a layout that balances risk and reward encourages thoughtful shot selection without overcomplicating play. Unique hole designs provide moments of variety throughout the round, including some tighter landing areas and holes that open into wider fairways, inviting differing tactical approaches.
Amenities include a clubhouse that supports group outings and casual gatherings, with staff noted for their welcoming attitude and accommodating service. While the course’s conditioning has elicited mixed feedback from visitors, those seeking affordable golf in a friendly setting will find value in the overall experience. Beechwood is walkable with flat terrain and well-maintained paths, though players should prepare for seasonal wear affecting tee boxes and rough.
For golfers planning their visit, early tee times in spring and fall enhance enjoyment with milder weather conditions and less foot traffic. While golf carts are available upon request, walking the course enhances appreciation for the landscape’s subtle shifts and pacing. Whether pursuing a leisurely round or honing basic skills, Beechwood Golf Course offers an approachable setting where golfers can engage with the game on welcoming grounds.

Poor management, we got to our 4th hole and ran into a log jam, 4 - 2 somes in front of us, should of paired up some of those groups, no rangers to be found, had another 2 some go around us while waiting to tee off, called clubhouse and they said they would send someone out, never saw anyone. When we confronted 2 some they said that is how it's done there, they do it all the time, nothing ever said, course in bad shape, felt like we was out in a field, bunkers non existent, no sand or rock hard. Worse course played all year.

Definitely not a fan of this course. Tee boxes are so beat up and they are every time I'm there, divots GALORE on every green, rough is extremely tall, course management is just non existent. Its a great layout and its fun but, its just not taken care of at all. The staff that works there are friendly and very nice people. The course itself just needs A LOT of work to be worth going to.
