Course Overview

Silver Creek Golf Club, located in Morganton, North Carolina, offers a challenging yet rewarding 18-hole public course carved into distinctive rolling terrain. The course’s design takes full advantage of the natural elevation changes, rewarding players who can negotiate its undulating fairways and strategically placed hazards. Silver Creek stands out for its mountain-style layout, where uphill and downhill shots test club selection and shot-making precision.

Players will find the course both approachable and demanding, suited to a broad range of skill levels. While elevation shifts add complexity for all, wide fairways provide some forgiveness off the tee. Large Bermuda grass greens feature subtle breaks and firm putting surfaces, inviting thoughtful approach shots and confident strokes on the greens. A few bunkers guard critical scoring areas, though recent feedback suggests some traps could benefit from ongoing maintenance.

The setting amplifies the experience with expansive vantage points that reveal dense forest and distant ridgelines framing key holes. These views, paired with the crisp mountain air, create moments of quiet focus amid the demanding layout. The course requires careful navigation through its hilly topography, making it a true test of patience and adaptability.

Silver Creek’s clubhouse anchors the facility with a welcoming atmosphere, where golfers can access a well-regarded grill that pairs tasty local fare with a selection of regional draft beers. The staff's warm hospitality elevates the round, making the club feel like a community as much as a course.

For visitors, walking at Silver Creek is encouraged to fully appreciate the natural contours and diverse scenery. Sturdy footwear is recommended, given the elevation changes and occasional uneven footing.

While green fees are on the higher side compared to other regional courses, the combination of challenging golf, scenic vistas, and friendly service establishes Silver Creek as a must-play for golfers exploring the Morganton area. The course invites players to engage both mind and body, rewarding attention to detail and a steady rhythm through each hole.

Played 18 yesterday for the first time. Loved the course. Very hilly but scenery was spectacular. Course was in great shape minus some traps that needed some work. Will play there again!

Love the views and the layout. Greens are large bermuda in good shape but a little hard. The fairways were wide with nice grass but mowed too close. One bunker had gravel in it. Smart move on the bermuda greens that should soften over time. Leave a little more height to fairway grass and a little sand in a couple of traps and would be ideal. Nice course overall and would recommend.

Although the course is a great layout the bunkers need restoration in worst way. Some had no sand only gravel. When I asked about it they are still blaming the hurricane. To expensive to replace even though they charge more than any course around.

Green fees are high but the course is great and folks are friendly! We will be back to play again! The elevation changes and views are breath taking! Highly recommend this course if you are in the area and don't mind paying a bit more to play a very nice public course!

This ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating is for the overall golfing experience. The course is challenging especially for someone who is use to flatter terrain. The views are fantastic, this course is pleasing to the eyes. The service from everyone I encountered was friendly and accommodating. This is owned by two lovely couples and they love the game, it shows every where. Papa's grill was great, good local brews on tap and the food was good. Not to mention that the owners were tending bar on both visits. The hospitality and service were outstanding. Come and play this course and experience the hospitality and great golf for yourself. You will not be disappointed. I will be back!!
