Crooked Creek Golf Course
Crooked Creek Golf Course in Hendersonville, NC, delivers a no-frills, 18-hole public layout marked by gently rolling fairways and modest challenges. With an emphasis on accessibility and steady play, this well-kept course offers an inviting, affordable option for golfers of all skill levels.
Course Overview
Crooked Creek Golf Course in Hendersonville, North Carolina, offers a straightforward, approachable experience ideal for golfers seeking a relaxed round without the trappings of high-end facilities. This 18-hole public layout extends over gently rolling terrain characterized by wide fairways and modest elevation changes, setting a pace that welcomes beginners and casual players while still providing enough challenge for those refining their skills. The course’s most striking quality lies in its unpretentious charm—the landscape stretches open with mature trees lining several holes, but water hazards and dramatic elevation shifts are minimal, creating a predictable rhythm well suited for steady play.
Players will find the fairway surfaces well maintained, though without the plush conditioning of championship venues. Greens tend to firm up in warmer months, demanding careful attention to approach shots and putting speed. Bunkers guard selected greens, but their primary role leans more toward positioning than intimidation, offering strategic options rather than punishing errors. Those planning a visit should note the facility relies on a modest clubhouse that serves as the hub for check-ins and refreshments, though convenience amenities on the course remain limited. Water stations and ball washers are notably absent, so preparation is key, especially on warmer days.
Crooked Creek encourages walking with generally flat terrain suitable for comfortable foot travel. Golf carts are available, though riders should be mindful of the early return policy. The course’s affordability and friendly atmosphere are frequently cited, making it a favored local spot for those eager to play without pressure or extravagance. While it may not offer the sophistication or resort-style treatment of nearby upscale facilities, it delivers an honest, accessible golf experience where skill development and steady enjoyment take center stage. Visitors seeking a straightforward round amid peaceful surroundings will find Crooked Creek to be a practical and pleasant option in the heart of Hendersonville.
Course Highlights
Crooked Creek’s design highlights broad fairways bordered by mature trees, bunkers positioned to encourage thoughtful shot placement, and firm greens requiring precise approach shots. While lacking water hazards, the course’s simple layout allows players to focus on shot-making fundamentals. The facility emphasizes value and accessibility over luxury, attracting locals seeking a relaxed round within a friendly environment.

Older course that's well maintained. Friendly staff. If you're looking for a higher end, country club course this is not it. Just a good local course that's fun to play and priced right.

Absolutely terrible experience. The staff was rude from the moment we arrived, acting like they were doing us a favor by letting us play on their course. The greens were rock hard and practically unplayable — I’ve seen parking lots with softer surfaces. For the price they charge, I expected way better. There was no atmosphere, no care, and zero respect for customers. I wouldn’t waste my time or money here again. Avoid at all costs!

$35 is a fair price, the carts are in decent shape but don’t have sand. Be prepared that all carts are to be turned in by 6:30 (even in the summer). I was not told by phone, only when I arrived in a rude manner when I made my payment. I was able to complete my 18 holes but would not recommend a tee time after 2:30 if your riding and hopefully you get better customer service.
