Mingo Springs Golf Course

Rangeley, Maine, USAWestern Maine

Mingo Springs Golf Course in Rangeley, Maine, challenges golfers with its rugged, hilly terrain and scenic, natural setting. This 18-hole public course blends uneven fairways and contoured greens to create a rewarding experience for players willing to navigate its elevation changes and variable conditions.

Course Overview

Mingo Springs Golf Course offers an authentic experience in the heart of Rangeley, Maine, where natural contours shape an 18-hole layout that challenges both strategy and stamina. This public course unfolds through rugged, hilly terrain that presents striking panoramic vistas at nearly every hole. Players encounter undulating fairways that demand precise shot placement, while greens vary from small and sharply contoured to more receptive surfaces requiring deft touch. The elevation changes throughout the course amplify its playability demands, rewarding those who manage the slopes and winds with patience and tactical decision-making.

Visitors find themselves surrounded by dense stands of pines and sweeping views of rolling highlands, merging ruggedness with tranquil woodland ambiance. The course’s character is defined less by manicured parkland precision and more by its embrace of terrain features crafted into the routing, providing a challenging test for mid-to-low handicappers without alienating those newer to the game. Walkers will appreciate the fresh mountain air, although the hills call for sturdy footwear and moderate fitness.

On arrival, the friendly staff ensures a seamless start with golf carts readily available, but many golfers prefer to explore the course on foot, immersing themselves in the natural setting. The pro shop stocks essentials and cold refreshments, catering thoughtfully to every need. While some players note the course conditions and maintenance could benefit from further investment, the genuine character and scenic appeal remain primary draws.

Mingo Springs encourages an adventurous spirit, where each hole tells a unique story shaped by Maine’s rugged landscape. It is a venue that rewards golfers who prepare for its variable terrain and pace of play. Whether seeking to sharpen your short game on subtly deceptive greens or test your drive across hillside fairways, Mingo Springs Golf Course offers a distinct and hearty golf outing. The experience is most rewarding in summer and early fall, when the weather is at its most cooperative and the colors enhance the rugged backdrop.

Back again, love the course. Remember when the ball rolled, greens were small and rolled true. This course plays like original golf. Course conditions are wonderful and staff is on top of everything. Pull in and a cart server arrives, “Would you like a cart for todays round?” Register at the pro shop and cold drinks and snacks are there. Away you go. I promise my next visit will be with Tony Penna woods and irons. Old school golf clubs and with modern golf balls! A must play in Maine. Gear up and make the trip up to Rangeley.

Lovely views but outrageously overpriced for a very low quality course. The fairways are anything but level and the greens are filled with dead spots. Good luck finding a ball cleaner with water in it. Pretty much everything about this course is subpar and they have the audacity to charge $65. Tourist trap leave the clubs at home.

Lovely Old New England style 18 hole course. Grand views on the front 9. Challenging enough for medium to advanced players. Fun!

Beautiful views. Front 9 way more interesting than back 9. The course needs some love and desperately needs water.
