Redlands Mesa Golf Course

Grand Junction, Colorado, USAWestern Colorado

Redlands Mesa Golf Course in Grand Junction presents a compelling blend of mountain terrain and strategic design across 18 holes. Its dramatic desert-red rock backdrop and well-maintained greens offer a memorable public course experience suited for golfers of varying skill levels.

Course Overview

Redlands Mesa Golf Course, located in Grand Junction, Colorado, offers a distinctive golf experience where natural beauty meets a thoughtfully carved layout across its 18 holes. This public course is situated in a striking landscape of red rock formations and high desert terrain, providing players with panoramic views that stretch across Colorado’s Western Slope. The course blends the rugged character of mountain golf with strategic design to deliver a challenging yet accessible round for golfers of varying abilities.

From the first tee, Redlands Mesa introduces players to gently rolling fairways that require both accuracy and distance control. The layout features a combination of wide landing areas and tighter, tree-lined corridors, balancing risk and reward on every hole. The course demands attention not only through its length but also via well-placed bunkers and natural undulations that protect its smooth, fast greens. This makes it appealing to mid- and low-handicap players looking to test precision, while higher handicaps will appreciate several approachable tees designed to keep the round enjoyable.

Course maintenance consistently receives positive remarks, with greens typically running true and surfaces kept in solid condition. The playing conditions can vary slightly with Colorado’s seasonal shifts, so early spring and fall rounds often provide the best blend of pace and scenery. A notable amenity is the Ocotillo Bar and Grill, which has earned high praise for its welcoming atmosphere and quality menu, perfect for a well-deserved break mid-round or post-play.

Carts are available but walking is feasible given the course’s moderate elevation changes, and comfortable golf shoes are recommended, especially during warmer months. While the driving range and practice facilities have received mixed feedback, the course itself remains a favorite for local players and visitors seeking a distinctive mountain golf challenge close to town.

Redlands Mesa combines the rugged spirit of Colorado golf with a layout designed to engage and excite, making it a worthwhile destination for those traveling through the Grand Junction area.

Course Highlights

Played on July 4th so I was expecting to pay a premium rate which was fine. However, for $200.00 I expected better from the course. I have played there multiple times but this year the course was not up to par (pun intended). The driving range was not included in the $200 and the range balls are a disaster as it seems they got them donated from other courses. While on the range, you cannot find a flat lie to hit from so the range was an absolute waste of time and money. The course itself was average in upkeep. Just as the driving range, most of the tee boxes were the same. I got the impression they didn’t want to upset the members and moved the tees to the worst possible condition of the box. The views are spectacular, I can’t dispute that but if you are looking for value I recommend other courses in the area that are better priced and in better condition.

Gorgeous course, spacious, fast greens, great views of the area...service was excellent in the clubhouse, bar and cartgirls. Some holes seemed to good to be true from a challenge standpoint but the next will kick your rearend so hard thus be diligent 😃👌⛳🍻💥 Jess and Andrew are awesome!

Redlands Mesa Golf Course. Fantastic and an outstanding course. It will challenge you but it is worth it. The scenery is well worth it. We will come back to play here. If you travel to play golf make this one of the course’s that you travel to. You won’t regret it. Well kept greens are fantastic. Again a great course.

While the Western Slope has some amazing golf courses, this has become a solid go to for us. It’s always in tip top condition, it’s challenging yet playable for many levels of golfers, the views are stunning, and Ocotillo Bar and Grill offers amazing food whether you’re on the turn, or just finishing up your round. My only complaint is that their carts don’t have misters for that summer time heat haha!

Had a great morning playing this course with my son. The course was very well maintained and the views are simply amazing. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. My son left his hat while shopping in the pro shop and we didn't realize until we were already in another state. I called the shop and they had found it and offered to mail it to our home free of charge. I haven't experienced this level of customer service in a while. I highly recommend playing a round (or two!) at this beautiful course and for the great hospitality we received at the pro shop and the restaurant on site. Well worth the money.

Enjoyed a 5 hour round today, waiting on every shot while the foursome in front of us saw no golfers in front of them until the 18th hole, when the golfers were leaving the green. No sand in most bunkers. Charged an extra $10 to use a credit card, plus a higher charge for greens fees at an earlier time to limit time in the heated part of the day. Called the pro shop about the wait but no ranger on duty, so they sent a “message” to the carts in front of us to speed up play. Result: they got slower! Beautiful course, marginal course maintenance and terrible customer service. Can’t wait to return!

Have always liked Redlands Mesa, but my experience today will keep me from playing here in the near future. Paid full green fees for a course where at least 1/2 the bunkers were unplayable due to restorations, and the round took 4 hours and 50 minutes. We called the pro shop from the 11th tee and complained, but they said they "didn't have a marshall available", and would send a note to the group in from of us asking them to speed up. The back nine played 20 minutes slower than the front. Tried to talk to the pro after the round, but he was "in a meeting" and unavailable. Left my number for him to call, but he never did.
