White Plains, New York, USAWestchester County

Maple Moor Golf Course in White Plains delivers a well-maintained 18-hole parkland experience that suits golfers from beginners to seasoned players. Its approachable layout, combined with strong conditioning and helpful amenities, makes it a top choice for those seeking a balanced and enjoyable round near NYC.

Course Overview

Maple Moor Golf Course offers a welcoming 18-hole layout that balances challenge with approachable playability, making it a favored destination for golfers in the Westchester area. Located just a 40-minute drive from New York City at 1128 North Street in White Plains, this public venue caters to players of all skill levels who seek an enjoyable round without extensive travel. The course stretches over a versatile setup that blends traditional parkland elements with gentle elevation changes, surrounded by mature trees that frame the fairways and define each hole’s character.

The conditioning at Maple Moor often draws high marks, especially for a municipal course. Well-maintained fairways and greens provide a smooth playing surface, accompanied by tight lies that reward accurate iron play. Golfers will find that while the layout is friendly for newcomers, certain strategic bunkers and undulating greens demand focus and precision. The variety of holes encourages a thoughtful approach to the game, allowing players to test different shots—from crisp drives to delicate chips.

Set against a backdrop of suburban tranquility, the course manages to maintain a sense of privacy and rhythm rare for public tracks. Seasonal changes enrich the experience; autumn colors or early spring blooms add subtle visual interest to a course that never feels crowded, especially during weekday rounds. Pace of play generally remains steady, thanks in part to staff attentiveness and a thoughtfully designed routing.

Maple Moor’s amenities extend beyond the course itself. The clubhouse houses a well-stocked pro shop and a restaurant that provides a welcome spot to relax after a round. Free parking and convenient access make arrival and departure straightforward, an important consideration for those balancing golf with a full schedule.

Whether you’re embarking on your first 18 or looking for a reliable Westchester course to sharpen your skills, Maple Moor offers a balanced challenge with a friendly atmosphere. It invites golfers to engage with the game without pressure, in a setting that respects both the traditional values of golf and the realities of modern play.

Course Highlights

The course combines a traditional parkland style with subtle elevation changes and well-placed bunkers that challenge golfers tactically. A few holes are designed around natural wetlands, creating a distinct environmental character without overly penalizing errant shots. The greens feature moderate undulation, inviting skilled putting while remaining fair to higher handicaps. Pro shop staff are known for their welcoming and knowledgeable service, enhancing the overall experience.

I played this course for the very first time and I felt like I’ve played this course forever—and it was only made possible by the extraordinary service of Tom and his crew! I couldn’t tell you how much it means and how important it is for a newbie in a new course to be treated as a regular! Top marks for the service! Same goes for the course, as it was kept in amazing shape for a late autumn/early winter round in December! The pro shop is well stocked, and the service, again, is superb, to say the least! As a golfer who plays nearly two-to-three times a week in and around NYC, I made a commitment to go to Westchester, a 40-minute drive from NYC and didn’t expect much, but I’m completely sold on the overall experience. A minor wrinkle would be the lack of snack amenities; however, there is a fine restaurant above the pro shop, but trivial things like a bottle of water, or snack, was hard to come by. Had I known earlier, I would’ve bought my own stash—perhaps maybe in the peak seasons, they do, but I didn’t ask; I will update on this next time I visit. The pace of place was amazing, so water/snacks was not even a concern. The restrooms were well kept, and the free parking was also a great sell! I wouldn’t mind trekking 40-minutes out of the city to play this course again. Highly recommend this course! Cheers for making my day! I’m sure they will make yours!

Nice course, but had I known the carts needed to be back by 6 I wouldn't have paid for 18 holes at 2:30. Had some slow groups in front of us and only made it through 13. Feel like the people working the check in could have mentioned that we prob wont get close to 18 holes. Still. Great time.

Maple Moor is another wonderful (affordable) and scenic Westchester course. The course is challenging enough for all levels of play and extremely well kept. Playing this late in the season, you would expect an abundance of leaves. We found the fairways to be clear and really enjoyable to play on. Plenty of parking and restaurant. Will definitely be back next season. The 2023-Course is in nice shape, with the greens feeling a bit more challenging. Always a good time here.

I’ve never left a review but felt I had to after today. Went to this course on a weekday afternoon after work and out of nowhere in the middle of the round there were 2 carts in front of us with 6 kids hanging off the carts of each. They call it “junior camp” and apparently they can play wherever they want on the course. My friend and I wanted to return to the pro shop after sitting around for so long and of course there was no ranger in site and nobody answering the phones. Can’t believe the course actually allows this. I don’t plan on coming back after this, never seen anything like it on a course.
