Mountain Dell Golf Course near Salt Lake City offers two 18-hole courses that blend parkland finesse with rugged canyon terrain. Both routes provide challenges layered with sweeping mountain views and multiple tees suited for various skill levels.
Course Overview
Mountain Dell Golf Course sits in the scenic foothills just off I-80 in Salt Lake City, Utah, offering two distinct 18-hole layouts that cater to a broad range of golfers. The Lake Course and the Canyon Course each present unique challenges shaped by their environment—rolling terrain, rocky outcrops, and panoramic mountain views combine to craft a setting that feels both invigorating and approachable. The Lake Course winds through gentle hills dotted with water hazards and mature trees, creating a classic parkland feel where shot placement rewards precision and strategy. The Canyon Course, by contrast, more boldly embraces its rugged surroundings with steeper elevation changes and fairways that thread through natural corridors carved into Parleys Canyon, demanding thoughtful club selection and a steady tee shot.
Together, these courses paint a comprehensive picture of Utah golf, blending natural beauty with thoughtful routing. The vistas are not just a backdrop but a dynamic part of the challenge, with shifting winds off the nearby canyon testing your tempo and trajectory. Despite technical demands, Mountain Dell offers multiple tee boxes on both courses, including three forward sets, allowing players of varying skill levels to find suitable angles without compromising the spirit of competition.
Beyond the fairways, the club supports a welcoming atmosphere highlighted by an accommodating pro shop and courteous staff ready to assist with equipment and local insights. The land itself becomes a partner through changing seasons: summer rounds showcase vibrant greenery and distant snow-capped peaks, while winter transforms the area into a hub for Nordic skiing and snow play, with trails groomed across the courses.
Garden-variety golfers to seasoned low handicappers will find Mountain Dell’s mix of playability and challenge finely tuned. Walkers will appreciate the manageable terrain and well-maintained paths, though sturdy shoes are recommended given occasional rocky sections. Given its proximity to Salt Lake City and easy access via I-80, Mountain Dell stands as a compelling destination for golfers seeking a competitive test set against striking mountain scenery, accessible yet grounded in genuine Western character.

This course is awesome for views and we'll maintained. It is not for the novice golfer, however. Hood golfers will be challenged from Black and Blue tees. There are 3 sets of forward tees to provide some relief from long tee to fairway carries. Two courses here; played Lakes today. Excellent proshop staff.

Great courses! There are 2 full 18 hole courses here. The Lake course and the Canyon course. Both are well kept and fun to play.

Beautiful course with accommodating staff. We accidentally booked an PM instead of an AM session and they were still able to help despite our folly. The wildlife on the course was amazing as well.

I do not golf, but I do Nordic ski and this is a wonderful place for this awesome winter sport! They groom the trails across the golf course and it’s an awesome place for folks of all skill levels to go have fun in the snow. Plenty of kids are there sledding at all times, too. It’s gorgeous and easy to access, as well.

Course was absolutely stunning in both conditions and views. Tough track if you take it for granted, but forgiving enough to have a good time. Will be coming back again!

Love this course in between SLC and Park City. We played the Canyon course and loved every hole. The scenery is awesome and the elevation changes can present some tough challenges - always check your GPS to see what might be ahead! Great course - looking to play the Lakes course next time!
