Chickasaw Point Golf Club

Westminster, South Carolina, USAUpstate South Carolina

Chickasaw Point Golf Club offers an engaging 18-hole golf experience set amid rolling terrain near Westminster, SC. Known for its precise demands and well-maintained layout, it balances challenge and fairness with undulating greens and strategic blind shots.

Course Overview

Chickasaw Point Golf Club presents an 18-hole test of precision and strategy in the foothills of South Carolina near Westminster. This semi-private course stretches just under 6,500 yards with a par of 72, offering a playing surface that demands thoughtful club selection and accurate shotmaking rather than sheer length. The layout winds through a gently rolling landscape defined by mature trees, subtle elevation changes, and well-placed bunkers that challenge golfers at every turn.

The course’s character comes alive in its undulating greens, which reward a steady gait and penalty-free approach but punish imprecision with terrain that commands patience and creativity. Many tee shots invite a degree of calculated risk, especially where blind fairways test a player’s course management skills. The conditioning throughout remains a highlight, with smooth putting surfaces and fairways maintained to a consistent standard year-round.

Players of varying skill levels will find Chickasaw Point approachable but never undemanding. While low handicappers can enjoy its strategic complexity, mid-handicappers are encouraged by the balance of challenge and fairness presented by well-defined landing areas and generous, yet guarded, greens. The natural South Carolina setting offers intermittent panoramic views that emerge quietly during a round, enriching the experience without overshadowing the golf itself.

Amenities include a welcoming clubhouse with the Overlook Restaurant, praised for its relaxed atmosphere and satisfying post-round fare. The pro shop supplies complimentary course guides, making it easier for first-time visitors to navigate blind shots and unfamiliar holes with confidence. Walking the course is encouraged, given the manageable terrain, but golf carts are available for those seeking a less strenuous round.

Chickasaw Point Golf Club blends thoughtful design and careful conditioning with genuine hospitality. Its combination of visual appeal, strategic variety, and attentive staff creates an inviting stage for a memorable round of golf in South Carolina’s upstate region.

Course Highlights

Chickasaw Point stands out for its well-maintained, fast, and undulating greens alongside strategic bunkering and several key blind tee shots, offering a unique test of control and precision. The course’s layout gently weaves through tree-lined corridors with occasional elevated viewpoints, while the friendly staff and the clubhouse dining experience enhance its appeal.

Beautiful course. If you take a minute to look at the views you will be impressed. The greens are the best kept in the area. There are a few blind shots off the tee box that will make this a fun round. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They have free course guides in the pro shop to help first time players. We enjoyed the Overlook Restaurant after our round with cold beer and good food.

Challenging course. It's not the longest but demands accurate shots to find the fairways. Tricky undulating greens put a premium on GIR. I will definitely play again.

I played today 5/2/25. The course is in fine shape and getting better. Sprinkler repairs are done and the trenching is almost unnoticeable. New sod repairs on many holes… ready for summer play Greens are in great shape. Kudos to the grounds crew.

First, the downfall. Cart was slow to start moving and then the brakes would barely stop us. The good. Staff was friendly. Course is in pretty good shape. A lot of blind shots, greens rolled great. You need to be precise on just about every shot. I recommend trying it a least once.
