Les Vieux Chenes Golf Course

Youngsville, Louisiana, USASouthwest Louisiana

Les Vieux Chenes Golf Course delivers a traditional 18-hole parkland experience with southern charm. Its approachable layout balances gentle challenges and natural scenery, making it an accessible option for golfers across skill levels searching for a straightforward round in Youngsville.

Course Overview

Les Vieux Chenes Golf Course, located just off Old Youngsville Highway in Youngsville, Louisiana, offers an 18-hole public layout designed to engage a broad spectrum of golfers. The course stretches over a moderate yardage, balancing accessible play with tasteful challenges. Its design presents a traditional parkland style, featuring rolling fairways lined with mature oaks and pockets of native grasses that capture a distinctly southern character without overwhelming the golfer.

The terrain provides subtle elevation changes that test shot placement and strategic course management, while greens present moderate undulation, rewarding careful approach shots and precise putting. Players will find the layout approachable for mid- and high-handicap players yet retaining enough complexity to hold the attention of lower handicaps seeking variety and thoughtful decision-making.

Scenery plays a quieter but steady role, with tall trees framing holes and providing shade on warm Louisiana days. Water hazards and strategically positioned bunkers create visual interest and define risk-reward scenarios, though the course’s main appeal resides in its straightforward yet engaging routing.

As a public facility, Les Vieux Chenes welcomes all players, making it an inviting venue for locals and visitors hoping to enjoy a casual round without the formality of private club requirements. The pace of play has received mixed feedback, which suggests planning tee times during less busy hours may enhance the experience. The clubhouse supports golfers with a pro shop and basic amenities, though the atmosphere tends to focus on the game rather than luxury.

Walkers should prepare for varying footing across fairways and occasional uneven terrain, making golf shoes with solid traction advisable. While golf carts are available, those who prefer to walk will appreciate the manageable overall course length.

In summary, Les Vieux Chenes provides an affordable, no-frills golf experience set against a southern backdrop. Its honest layout champions straightforward golf with natural subtleties, offering a reliable destination for players seeking to enjoy the game in a relaxed environment.

I played this course twice and had bad experiences both times. First off, the pro shop guys/ head pro? Are EXTREMELY rude and could care less. I had called on phone to ask simple questions beforehand and chalked it up to catching them in a rush. Nope. Just rude old men. Next was the pace of play. This is where the head pro must do their job better. It was one the slowest courses I’ve ever played on a weekday in my life. The Marshalls did absolutely nothing to speed up play. No rhyme or reason just blasting people of the tee box. It’s a shame it’s poorly run. It has a lot of potential but would need a complete overhaul with new staff and management!

Wonderful golf course! Shot here a couple times. Once it was on a busy Saturday and we had to get paired with another pair and it wasn’t bad at all! We had fun made great conversation, and ultimately became business partners on a later date. No complaints! If you’re looking for a great course give it a try! ⛳️

The golf course currently in good shape, greens not as smooth as i would like it but it's a public course so it's what you get here.

Only putting one star because that’s the lowest I can go. Course is always in terrible condition and it is way overpriced. I have played here a few times, but the other day I went play and have never met someone so disrespectful, rude, and clueless as the ProShop worker Todd Robertson. The workers always are in a bad mood and act like their course is Augusta National. I will not be coming back to play here and will be making sure that word is spread around town about these experiences.
