The Glacier Club

Durango, Colorado, USASouthwest Colorado

The Glacier Club in Durango, Colorado, offers an 18-hole private mountain golf experience defined by wide-ranging elevation changes and sweeping San Juan vistas. Its parkland-style layout challenges all skill levels with strategic design set amid towering pines and aspens.

Course Overview

Set against the striking backdrop of the San Juan Mountains in Durango, Colorado, The Glacier Club offers an 18-hole championship layout that challenges and rewards in equal measure. This private course demands attention from every golfer who steps onto its fairways, shaped by expansive mountain vistas and crisp, high-altitude air. Designed to balance challenge with accessibility, The Glacier Club’s layout weaves through natural valleys and rolling foothills, integrating thoughtful elevation changes and strategic bunkering that prompt careful club selection and shot placement.

Each hole invites players to engage with the varied terrain, where the course’s parkland style blends lush fairways with dense stands of native pines and aspens. The greens are meticulously maintained and often present subtle breaks that sharpen putting focus. Although the setting is scenic, it's also practical—the layout promotes a steady pace of play and encourages both strategic thinking and measured aggression. Golfers of mid to low handicaps will find particular satisfaction in navigating The Glacier Club’s risk-reward holes, while higher handicappers can still enjoy approachable tee options and generous landing areas.

The Glacier Club’s facilities complement the course with a recently updated Valley Clubhouse that serves as a refined hub for members. Amenities include a pro shop stocked for mountain golf, well-appointed locker rooms, and dining spaces designed to unwind after a round, all accented by panoramic views that stretch beyond the course’s edges. Walking the course is encouraged, and players should be prepared for altitude changes and packed footwear to handle firm fairways and occasional rocky terrain.

For those planning a visit, The Glacier Club’s mountain environment means seasonal considerations are key—prime conditions typically arrive from late spring through early fall. The course’s elevation and open exposure may bring shifting winds that test your tempo, making strategic shot management essential. The Glacier Club is a compelling choice for golfers seeking a meticulous mountain golf experience that emphasizes natural topography as both partner and opponent.

Course Highlights

We've had the honor of photographing many weddings at the Glacier Club and we at Allison Ragsdale Photography are always so impressed with the views and the staff. The newer Valley Clubhouse is incredible and Carmen, the wedding coordinator there, is beyond incredible as well. Highly recommend!!

Our wedding was wonderfully prepared by Constanze and the Glacier Club family for nearly 2 years due to the pandemic. My wife and I are living overseas so communication would have been difficult but Constanze was able surpass these issues and work closely with us. --Wedding Day-- Initially, we were only supposed to have the reception down at the venue but due to unfortunate circumstances because of rain up at Purgatory 'Dante's", we were left stranded until Constanze saved the day for us and went above and beyond despite not having to. 1 hour before the ceremony occurred, Wife and I heard the news that the Wedding ceremony was cancelled at the top of the mountain. Without skipping a beat, we called up Constanze grasping on straws. Constanze reassured us " Don't worry, it's your day. Just be here and we will prepare everything we can." Trusting her and her team, the venue was wonderfully set up last minute, the rain stopped and exactly at 1:00PM, we were able to have our Wedding Ceremony, beautiful pictures of the scenery around, then end the afternoon with a beautiful 3- course meal prepared by the Glacier Club. Without the incredible effort from Constanze, we wouldn't have had a wedding. I am truly grateful for their efforts to making our special day a success. I would completely recommend Glacier Club with Constanze running the show. Thank you again.
