Course Overview

Bridge Haven Golf Course on the Gorge offers an 18-hole experience that welcomes golfers seeking a blend of rustic charm and well-kept playing conditions without the premium price. Located in the scenic surroundings of Fayetteville, West Virginia, this public course provides a straightforward yet rewarding layout that balances accessibility with moments of thoughtful challenge. The course’s setting near the rugged New River Gorge lends an understated natural character, inviting players to engage with a landscape shaped by rolling hills and open fairways.

The fairways at Bridge Haven are maintained with care, presenting a playable surface for golfers of varying skill levels. While the rough tends toward a more natural, rough-edged texture dominated by patches of sparse grass and weeds, accurate drives are rewarded with clean lies and smooth approaches. This feature reinforces the course’s emphasis on shot precision, particularly when venturing away from the landing zones.

What stands out are the greens, consistently praised for their remarkable condition, offering a true and soft roll that challenges putting strokes with subtle breaks and well-defined aprons. Players can expect a fast pace on these surfaces, making green reading and speed control critical components to scoring well.

Bridge Haven’s straightforward routing exposes players to several blind shots and elevation changes, adding strategic elements that keep each round engaging. These characteristics suggest that first-time visitors, especially singles, benefit from playing alongside those familiar with the layout to fully navigate the course’s nuances. The course’s staff earns high marks for friendliness and helpfulness, ensuring newcomers feel welcomed.

While golf carts are available and windshields provide shelter, there are no rain covers for bags, so weather-conscious players may want to plan accordingly. The affordable green fees, combined with a relaxed atmosphere and quality conditions, make Bridge Haven a welcome option for travelers exploring the New River Gorge region or locals seeking a solid round.

The golf experience here calls for practical preparation focused on course management and pace, rewarding thoughtful play with a chilled yet satisfying adventure into West Virginia’s golf landscape.

The staff is welcoming of all players, the patronage is not. It's a beautiful course with a helpful detailed booklet for these out-of-towners. A big thanks to Margaret (I'm horrible with names but I think we got it right) for helping us out when we decided to cut our game short.

I wasnt sure what to expect when I booked this. Was in town for Memorial Weekend with my wife and staying near New River Gorge. So while wife was busy with her activities, I had booked a morning round. Wasnt expecting much as I assumed that since it was in the countryside, it would be so-so. I was PLEASANTLY surprised... PROS - The customer service and friendliness of the staff was very much appreciated. They knew I was from out of town and they were very helpful and even during the turn and at the end, they took the time ot ask how I was doing and how was the course - The course, is in REALLY good shape - The greens and apron around the greens are IMMACULATE. I would stack them up with my greens here in the Dayton/Cincy area with no problems - The holes are fun to play and I played the white tees which are approx 560 yrds. I normally play 6000-6200 yrds but the white tees were more than challenging - I was a single but I was fortunate enough to join the 2some behind me and a big shout out to Luke and Josh. Ty for joining me and making my round very enjoyable. You guys were great to play the round with. - Do NOT play as a single for the first time WITHOUT someone who has played the course before. I SWEAR i would have not known on some of the holes where to hit. absolutely no way.... - The course was super fun to play and If I am in the area again I will come out and play this course - have already told my golf chat group about this course to spread the word CONS - it would be good to put a bell at the bottom of some of the hills and hidden shots like most courses do so that groups can notify the teams at the tee box it is safe to hit and not force groups to go out and check if it is safe to hit and then come back

I would have likely given this a 4.2 star rating, as it’s a simple, out of the way, low cost course. But, for the cost, it was well worth it. Tee boxes needed to be leveled a bit, and mowed, but it wasn’t bad. The greens were in REALLY nice shape. Fairways were well maintained but the rough was mostly weeds and sparse grass. I guess if you hit straight you’re fine. Gas golf carts, with windshields, but no rain covers for the clubs. If you’re in the area looking for a place to play, it’s worth the stop.

Came for a bachelor party. 8 people, no tee time. Walked right up and onto the course. Amazing pricing. Cheap beers. The greens were the best greens I’ve ever played on. Very soft and rolled so true! Great experience

Great local course. Challenging but fun at the same time. Excited to see the changes the new ownership has planned.
