Stamford Valley Golf Course

Stamford, Vermont, USASouthern Vermont

Stamford Valley Golf Course offers a pleasantly accessible 9-hole experience set against the Vermont Green Mountains, with inviting terrain and well-kept greens that make it a favorite for both beginners and seasoned players. The family-owned course’s friendly atmosphere and scenic surroundings enhance every round.

Course Overview

Stamford Valley Golf Course offers an inviting 9-hole layout that blends straightforward playability with scenic charm in Vermont's Green Mountains. This family-owned, public course provides a welcoming environment for golfers seeking a relaxed round surrounded by gentle hills and natural beauty. Originally a farm, the course's terrain has been thoughtfully adapted to preserve an authentic rural atmosphere while delivering a quality golfing experience.

The design emphasizes accessibility without sacrificing character. Each hole presents a manageable challenge, with well-maintained fairways and greens that reward precise approach shots yet remain forgiving enough for beginners and casual players. The gentle elevation changes allow players to enjoy varied lies and sightlines, while the mountain backdrop enhances the sense of tranquility throughout the round.

Stamford Valley's putting surfaces are consistently praised for their smoothness, encouraging steady pacing and subtle breaks. Bunkers are strategically placed to test course management rather than overwhelm, making the course approachable for all skill levels. Players often remark on the friendly staff and inviting clubhouse environment that elevate the overall experience beyond the golf itself.

Walking is the preferred mode of play here, fitting comfortably with the course’s compact size and winding layout. The terrain is gentle enough for most walkers, but sturdy footwear is recommended given occasional natural unevenness typical of mountain foothills. Because the layout invites repeated play, many find it an ideal setting to work on their short game or enjoy casual outings with friends and family.

Visitors can expect a relaxed pace of play complemented by picturesque views, understated landscaping, and a strong sense of community—qualities that reflect the club’s multi-generational stewardship. Whether you’re a newcomer eager to improve or a seasoned player looking for an enjoyable round in a friendly atmosphere, Stamford Valley Golf Course holds steady as a Vermont stop that feels both genuine and refreshing.

I love this course! I just moved to the area about three years ago and everyone at this course has been so welcoming and friendly! The course has a fun layout with well maintained greens. I recently hosted my partners birthday party here and the staff went above and beyond to make our event special. Highly recommend!

This beautiful 9-hole course is nestled in a valley of the Vermont Green Mountains and is a rare find as it has been passed down through three generations and is STILL family-owned and operated. It was once a farm, and it still retains that small hometown family feeling when you play. The clubhouse is beautiful and the owners are a joy to visit with ! They are certainly proud of their course and should be. 5 stars all day long!!

I cannot say enough great things about this business. From the owners all the way down to the greens crew, I am always met with extreme kindness and generosity. In addition to the warm welcoming atmosphere, I always leave wishing that I had played another round! So much so, that after a couple years of golfing here intermittently, I am now a proud first year member AND player in their Sunday morning golf league. If Google allowed me to leave a review higher than 5 stars I absolutely would! All around just a great place to be and it will not disappoint. I highly recommend the course to any and everybody looking to get out for not only a great round of golf, but an excellent experience in entirety!!

Stamford Valley is a fun and enjoyable 9-hole track that never disappoints. The course is always in good shape and makes for a great casual round, whether you’re working on your game or just out for some fresh air and a few laughs. What really sets this place apart, though, is the staff — the owners and everyone who works here are always friendly, welcoming, and genuinely love the game. It’s that kind of atmosphere that keeps you coming back. If you’re in the area and looking for a place to play 9, I definitely recommend stopping by. It’s one of those hidden gems that makes golf feel like it should: relaxed, fun, and inviting.
