Sand Hollow Resort

Hurricane, Utah, USASouthern Utah

Sand Hollow Resort presents a desert links-style 18-hole golf course set against the vivid red rock backdrop of Hurricane, Utah. The championship layout challenges golfers of all abilities with elevation changes, strategic bunkering, and expansive desert views.

Course Overview

Sand Hollow Resort in Hurricane, Utah, offers an extraordinary golf experience framed by the striking red rock formations and wide-open desert vistas characteristic of the southwestern landscape. This 18-hole public championship course stretches over 7,450 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, delivering an engaging challenge that accommodates a variety of skill levels. The layout blends desert links-style routing with dramatic elevation shifts that awaken every hole, demanding thoughtful strategy and precise shot-making.

The course's standout feature is its unique topography, where towering cliffs and open fairways work in tandem to create a sense of freedom and exposure seldom found outside classic desert golf destinations. Elevated tees provide sweeping views that sharpen your focus with every drive, while the ever-present winds can test tempo and club selection. Bunkers sculpted with intentional ruggedness guard the greens, encouraging smart play around these targets. Players can expect a rewarding balance between risk and reward; even less-than-perfect shots have the potential to yield surprising results thanks to some generous landing areas and natural contours.

Sand Hollow's setting incorporates native vegetation and the natural desert floor, lending authenticity to the course’s challenge without compromising playability. While the course is approachable for intermediate golfers, the length and variable conditions keep even low handicappers alert. The resort facilities complement the golf with comfortable lodging options, a clubhouse offering food and beverage services, and a pro shop stocked to support every aspect of the round.

Visitors planning to walk should prepare for desert conditions with appropriate footwear, hydration, and sun protection, especially under the powerful Utah sun. Golf carts are available, but walking allows a closer connection to the terrain’s subtle features and panoramic views.

Completing a round at Sand Hollow is more than just a game; it is an immersion into a landscape where golf and nature meet in bold relief, making it a destination worthy of inclusion on any southwestern golf itinerary.

This was hands down the most beautiful golf course I have ever played. The views are spectacular! The course itself is very fun with some huge changes in elevation and some very challenging holes. Even a bad tee shot is exciting here because it could be the longest drive you'll ever hit in your life after sailing over the 400ft drop-off 😅. I would definitely recommend for a golf trip. If you are vacationing anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and book a tee time.

The location of this place is absolutely beautiful. Loved all the red mountains and the golf course. Definitely a beautiful site. My biggest criticism with this place was the service. I arrived at the time they said my room would be ready and it was not. I ended up having to wait another hour and when it was finally ready it was a drive down the street. The check in is not where the rooms are. They should really invest in self check-in or have a check in at the actual buildings. When I arrived at the actual buildings the elevator was broken. I had to haul my luggage up three flights of stairs. I could tell the maintenance lady's were also struggling. We also only received one toilet paper roll in the three days we were there which with a family of 4 we had to use sparingly. Small things that added up after a long week of travel felt bigger. It is pretty removed from anything else so if you're going out to eat anywhere but their restaurant it's gonna be at least a 25 min drive. The restaurant was decent. Okay food, and good service.

Fantastic golf experience! The two-room condo is amazing. Full kitchen, pantry, and selection of supplies. Living area has seats to accommodate 12. Full dining table with 6 chairs. Easy access to the pool and Jacuzzi. The course was challenging, so make sure you play it twice!

Food at the course/resort was NOT good. Also prepare for lots of rules regarding alcohol. Look into the state of Utah's rules regarding this, if you aren’t from here. Front desk was not very kind. Gym is very minimal (3 treadmills, 1 bike. 1 set of DB and a broken resistance machine.) Course is 10/10 beautiful and taken care of. Views are incredible! Great location! Housing 10/10! Food servers and pro shop staff were kind. Overall enjoyed our stay but did leave a lot for food/bought groceries. I really do think if they could improve their food, they would get better reviews and heighten the experience.

Stayed with friends. Showed up and it was disgusting. Hadn’t been cleaned upon arrival. Front office was terrible to work with and wouldn’t respond for hours.
