Meadow Brook Golf Course

Richmond, Rhode Island, USASouthern Rhode Island

Meadow Brook Golf Course is an approachable 18-hole public layout in Richmond, Rhode Island, known for its parkland style and player-friendly design. Its straightforward fairways and moderate challenges make it suitable for all levels, complemented by functional amenities in a relaxed environment.

Course Overview

Meadow Brook Golf Course offers a traditional 18-hole layout in Richmond, Rhode Island. This public course presents a straightforward design that appeals to golfers looking for a relaxed yet engaging round in a natural New England setting. The course is characterized by gently rolling fairways and modest elevation changes that shape the playing experience without overwhelming newer players. Tree-lined holes frame many fairways, providing a classic parkland feel, though the terrain is open enough to allow for a variety of shot options.

Players will find Meadow Brook approachable for all skill levels. Its par-72 setup, with a total yardage that stretches to just over 6,000 yards, makes it manageable for mid-handicappers and a solid practice ground for beginners seeking to hone their game under true conditions. While the design contains a few strategically placed bunkers and water hazards, the course does not rely excessively on punitive features, allowing rounds to flow without undue frustration.

The clubhouse facilities at Meadow Brook are modest but functional, supporting a casual atmosphere for both players and visitors. Amenities include a small pro shop and a practice putting green, though the course lacks a driving range and on-course beverage service. This simplicity complements the course's focus on delivering a straightforward golf experience rather than resort-style luxury.

Seasonality can influence play conditions here, with Rhode Island's variable weather shaping strategy and club selection as the year progresses. Early spring and late autumn rounds can bring brisk winds off nearby landscapes, testing control and shot planning while summer tee times reward those who adapt to soft, well-maintained turf.

Despite its accessible price point and community-oriented vibe, pacing can be an issue during peak times. Golfers might experience slower play, particularly on busy weekends, so planning weekday visits or early tee times is advisable. Meadow Brook Golf Course represents a practical venue for those seeking a no-frills game in a traditional setting, with enough variety to remain interesting over multiple visits.

Course Highlights

The course features a classic parkland layout with tree-lined fairways and gentle elevation changes. Water hazards come into play on select holes, requiring thoughtful shot placement. While not architecturally famous, the course provides consistent conditions and a playable challenge. Its simplicity and natural setting offer a straightforward golf experience without high-end distractions.

Course was excellent, guy inside was nice, but the ranger was purposefully yelling at only our group (4 20 year olds) to play faster, we tee’d off at 5:36, finished at 9:15. Guys behind us were a hole and a half ATLEAST behind us the entire time, but we were repeatedly accused of “backing the course up”. Great course, great fun layout, horrible ranger.

Terrible Experience at Meadowbrook - Discriminatory Marshall Ruined Our Round I’ve played at countless golf courses, but my experience at Meadowbrook was by far one of the worst. The course itself is a nice track—a beautiful layout with challenging holes and decent greens—but that’s where the positives end. The real issue lies with the awful marshall who was overseeing our round. While the course might have been enjoyable under different circumstances, the marshall completely ruined our experience. He was rude, unprofessional, and showed a blatant disregard for basic courtesy and hospitality. To make matters worse, it became painfully clear that the marshall’s behavior was rooted in pure discrimination. Our foursome, which consisted of younger golfers, was unfairly targeted. We were treated as if we didn’t belong on the course simply because of our age. We were subjected to condescending remarks, unnecessary comments about pace of play, and even an unsolicited “warning” despite playing at a perfectly reasonable pace. The marshall’s attitude was nothing short of dismissive and rude, and it made the round feel uncomfortable and unpleasant. I’ve never experienced such blatant ageism at any other course, and it's truly disheartening to see that a place like Meadowbrook would employ someone with such a toxic attitude. Golf is a game for all ages, and to be treated like second-class citizens because of our youth is not only offensive, but completely unacceptable. I will not be returning to Meadowbrook, nor would I recommend it to anyone who values fairness, respect, and a positive experience. It’s a shame because the course itself is great, but the poor treatment from staff has ensured that I’ll never set foot there again. 1/5 - Would give zero stars if I could.

Course is decent. But poor management. There's no course manager managing tee times. Pointed us to start in hole 1 when we're supposed to start in hole 2 near the club house. So that was already a mess to begin with. Then we continued to hole 2 to tee off and of course there's a bunch of people waiting to tee off. So theu pointed us to start in the back 9 and we did but we just went cutting people off again and waiting at least 10-15mins/hole just to tee off ans we're rushing coz there are people behind us. We paid for 18 holes $85/person and we only played 9 holes in the span of 4 hours. We went to the club house to atleast get a refund or raincheck and the girl there said no one is there to do that. It was an awful experience for trying the course for the first time. We're not coming back and we don't recommend it either. For that price we can go somewhere else with better service. 0/10 rating.

Showed up for an 18-hole round on a Saturday afternoon in mid-May prime golf season and the first thing we’re told is “Sorry, we’re understaffed.” Not exactly a great start. There were already two groups of four waiting to tee off, and things were running at least 45 minutes behind. Pace of play was terrible. No ranger in sight to keep things moving, and after slogging through 11 painfully slow holes in 4.5 hours, I just walked off the course. To make things worse, there was no manager at the counter to even discuss a raincheck or refund. The course itself? Nothing special definitely not worth the frustration. If you value your time and money, play somewhere else. WISH I COULD RATE IT 0/10

Course was in terrific shape. No driving range or beverage cart, but still a good experience.

Hadn't been here for several decades. If you remember it then you know now it is a completely different course! It is an amazing transformation. Absolutely beautiful course. Changed the layout a bit, opened it up. Tee boxes, fairways and greens in immaculate condition. Very reasonable greens fees. I would imagine the carts will get updated at some point but they get you where you need to go and really don't take away from the golfing experience.

Treat paying customers with respect . The ranger here needs to find a new profession. His name is Jay. When I finally got him on the phone he yelled at me for 3 straight minutes and said “maybe I shouldn’t be a ranger” sir you are correct!!! You picked on these boys because of your poor tee time management.
