Beaver River Golf Club

Richmond, Rhode Island, USASouthern Rhode Island

Beaver River Golf Club offers a challenging yet approachable 18-hole experience set in the rolling parkland of Southern Rhode Island. The course features lush fairways, well-kept greens, and strategic water hazards, making it a rewarding destination for golfers of all skill levels.

Course Overview

Beaver River Golf Club offers a compelling golf experience set within the rolling landscapes of Richmond, Rhode Island. This 18-hole, public course presents a layout that challenges players while rewarding strategic shot-making. The design blends elements of parkland and traditional New England terrain, marked by gently undulating fairways, mature trees, and well-placed water hazards that prompt careful navigation from tee to green.

Players will find the course approachable for a broad range of skill levels, yet demanding enough to hold the interest of low handicappers aiming to test their precision. Fairways are generous but guarded by strategic bunkering, encouraging thoughtful club selection and course management. The greens are consistently well-maintained and roll true, rewarding crisp approach shots and penalizing misjudged speed.

The natural scenery enhances the round without overwhelming it – small ponds on several holes cast reflective surfaces that alternate between calming and tactical obstacles. The front nine challenges with subtle elevation changes, while the back nine introduces slightly tighter corridors framed by mature hardwoods, leading to a finishing hole that plays alongside water and invites an accurate, confident closing effort.

Amenities include a welcoming clubhouse with friendly staff that create an inviting atmosphere on and off the course. Although the layout demands attention, Beaver River’s pace of play is reasonable, and walking is both encouraged and enjoyable, with paths and terrain suited for comfortable movement throughout the round.

For golfers planning a visit, sturdy golf shoes and an accurate approach game will help navigate Beaver River’s nuanced challenges. Signage and yardage markers are generally clear, but keeping a reliable rangefinder handy can sharpen distance control.

Beaver River Golf Club strikes a balance between classic New England golf traditions and modern course conditioning. It appeals to golfers seeking a rewarding day on the links without the need for exclusivity, making it a notable destination within Rhode Island’s golfing landscape.

Course Highlights

Beaver River Golf Club balances strategic play with natural beauty, featuring water hazards that come into play on multiple holes and bunkers positioned to challenge accuracy off the tee. The finishing hole highlights a scenic pond that tests both approach and nerves. The course’s conditioning is consistently praised for its smooth greens and well-maintained fairways, contributing to an engaging round.

The only thing missing are the little details like yardage markers at the tee box, more consistent signage for next tee, etc. Even without those extras the course is one of the best I've played in the state. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Walked the front 9 last night and can't wait to get out for the full 18.

Couldn't ask for a better experience. The course is well maintained and the staff is friendly and inviting. The food at the clubhouse was delicious and the seating has great view of the pond and 18th hole.

I've played the course many times and I enjoy the round. There's some goofy holes but that doesn't bother me, however if your listening management do yourselves a favor and put bottles of sand on the carts so the players can repair their divots and take care of the nice fairways. Last thing the course is in great shape but you need to roll those greens they are ridiculously slow.
