North Kingstown Golf Course

North Kingstown, Rhode Island, USASouthern Rhode Island

North Kingstown Golf Course presents a well-tended 18-hole public parkland layout that blends accessible play with strategic depth. Its inviting fairways, tree-lined corridors, and subtle greens make it a solid choice for golfers seeking a straightforward yet engaging Rhode Island round.

Course Overview

North Kingstown Golf Course offers an 18-hole public layout that balances accessible play with a subtle challenge, inviting golfers of varying skill levels to experience its well-maintained fairways and greens. Situated in a gently rolling Rhode Island landscape, the course unfolds with a classic parkland style that allows natural contours and tree-lined corridors to shape each hole's character. The terrain is forgiving enough for beginners to find enjoyable lines, yet enough strategy threads through for more experienced players to stay engaged.

This course respects the practical demands of a public venue while providing the quiet focus many seek on the links. Trees frame approaches, bunkers are positioned to prompt thoughtful shot placement, and the greens offer moderate undulation, encouraging careful reading without overwhelming nervous hands. The layout flows steadily over a mix of short par-3s and mid-length par-4s, with a few longer holes that test distance control and course management.

Maintenance standards keep the playing surfaces smooth and fairway lies consistent, contributing to a reliable round each time you visit. The club welcomes players who enjoy a relaxed pace but appreciate a course with subtle complexities. Walkers will find the terrain manageable, though cart paths may be uneven in spots, so sturdy footwear comes recommended.

The clubhouse provides essential amenities, including a pro shop stocked with equipment and apparel, and a casual dining area ideal for post-round conversations or a light meal. While the facility operates as a public course, its community-oriented atmosphere means all players are encouraged to honor pace-of-play policies and general etiquette to maintain a positive experience.

North Kingstown Golf Course stands as a practical choice for golfers seeking a well-kept, straightforward round within reasonable proximity to the region’s larger metropolitan centers. Early tee times can ensure fewer crowds and a more relaxed pace, adding to the appeal for those seeking to enjoy golf without complication.

Although the course does not boast expansive elevation changes or dramatic coastal views, it embraces a straightforward, honest golf experience that rewards thoughtful shot making and steady play. With consistent upkeep and a welcoming environment, North Kingstown Golf Course remains a valued option for both local residents and visitors exploring Rhode Island’s golfing landscape.

Course Highlights

The course features a classic parkland setting with strategically placed bunkers and tree-lined fairways that reward course management. Moderate green undulations require careful putting lines, and select holes toward the back nine offer more visual interest and shot-making decisions. Its straightforward design eschews dramatic elevation changes but provides a reliable and enjoyable golf experience that suits all levels.

Nice course but the staff's behavior was disappointing. It was the first time our foursome had played the course (we've been searching for a quality "home course") and it took us a little longer to read each hole than normal. We finished our round in exactly 4 hours and were hassled by the staff for slow pace of play, even asking us to pick up and move on for one of the holes while we were putting. The group behind us displayed very poor etiquette, driving over our heads while we were in the fairway, but never attempted to talk to us about playing through. 4 hours, to me, is a very standard time to play 18 holes of golf, and it's disappointing that a younger generation is viewed with derision at a public golf course. I understand the old timers who have played the course countless times may be faster and am happy to accommodate them, but will not be returning because of the negative way the staff treated our group. Very disappointed.

2nd year, our company, DAI Restore, sponsored and worked at this stunning golf course during golf tournament here. Staff was extremely helpful and delightful to deal with 2 years. Hank ckecked in to see if we needed anything. Beautiful golf course, clean, organized, and good food. Steaks could have been cooked more, but staff was responsive in addressing issues to accommodate requests. Hope the tournament is held here again, I will certainly volunteer here again!

Well let me start by saying I'll never be golfing at nkgc again. I've been a resident here for 30 years and golfing here since I was a kid. Sunday was the last straw. We had a 542 am tee time I got sick and had called my buddy to let him know I wouldn't make it. Was told he got charged on the turn for my no show. First of all, you're the only course in Rhode Island that charges for a no-show, and that's a fact I play everywhere in the state. Second it was a 542 am tee time, let me know who's gonna fill that spot 😂. They act like North Kingstown is TPC NK, hate to break it to you, it's not. Your business practices are absolutely garbage. I then called to speak to the pro shop, got some prick Mike who said no shot he's refunding me. Then I left my number to Jon rainone (head pro) to call me and he never did, shocker there. I'll leave my venmo do you can reimburse me for the "greens fees" you had to have, and I'll be slamming this courses reputation any chance I can get. @nickschavone is my venmo! Ps, just cause you put a sign up in the shop doesn't make it the law lol... Already put the claim in on my cc 😘

Great course, but staff behavior was unacceptable. While the course itself was in excellent condition and enjoyable to play, the experience was severely impacted by the grounds crew. For FIVE consecutive holes, we had to yell at the crew to move out of the fairway so we could hit. They were consistently about 200 yards out—well within driving range—and showed no urgency or awareness, even after multiple attempts to get their attention. We understand that course maintenance is essential, but it’s basic etiquette and common sense to avoid standing in the middle of the fairway while players are hitting. We raised the issue with the pro shop afterward, but their response was dismissive and indifferent, which was disappointing.

nice course. Good shape. more open and better condition than exeter and richmond golf courses. All these courses need to work a little harder on condition of sand traps and cart paths. couple holes are hard to play being first time on course but second time will be easier. Back nine more scenic. Reasonable rate. I will play this one again.
