Costa Caribe Golf & Country Club

Ponce, Puerto Rico, USASouthern Puerto Rico

Costa Caribe Golf & Country Club is a private 18-hole course in Ponce that blends tropical coastal scenery with a layout demanding strategic shot-making. With wide fairways, protective greens, and a par-72 challenge, it offers a varied experience shaped by winds and terrain.

Course Overview

Costa Caribe Golf & Country Club presents an 18-hole private layout located along Puerto Rico’s southern coast in Ponce. The course offers an experience shaped by its tropical surroundings and coastal influence, where warm breezes carry salty whispers from the nearby Caribbean Sea. Its design balances natural elevation changes with wide fairways, framing play with native palms, scattered hardwoods, and glimpses of water hazards that come into strategic play throughout the round.

The course stretches just over 6,600 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, providing a challenge that suits mid- to low-handicap players seeking a championship-style test without overwhelming those still honing their game. The fairways are generous in width but demand thoughtful approach shots as several greens are guarded by bunkers or subtle swells in the terrain. These greens require careful read and touch, especially on breezy days that test tempo and commitment.

The ambiance of Costa Caribe’s layout shifts as players advance, starting with open holes that allow full-swing confidence before transitioning into tighter, more strategic segments lined with mature foliage. The course’s coastal proximity sometimes influences play with soft winds that can alter ball flight, and the surrounding landscape provides a blend of sun-dappled shade and clear sky views that enhance the round’s enjoyment.

While the course earns praise for its varied shot requirements and tropical character, visitors have noted certain maintenance challenges that can affect playability, particularly concerning fairway surfaces and bunker condition. These factors suggest that golfers prepare for firmer playing conditions and bring extra precision to their short game when targeting the often protective greens.

Costa Caribe Golf & Country Club’s clubhouse offers a relaxed atmosphere typical of Caribbean hospitality, with facilities geared toward members and their guests. Walking is encouraged to fully absorb the course’s character, but golfers should wear sturdy shoes suited to firm terrain underfoot. The club’s private status means access is limited, yet the course’s layout and distinct setting provide a memorable stage for those fortunate to play here.

For players seeking a coastal experience that reflects Puerto Rico’s warmth and natural appeal, Costa Caribe offers a course where strategy and atmosphere converge amid a landscape shaped by sea and sky.

I played the scramble tournament on June 22nd, and honestly, the course conditions are unacceptable. Fairways? What are we talking about? They don't exist. You're basically hitting dirt. The grass in the backyards of nearby houses is a thousand times better than this course. Trying to hit iron shots or chip is mission impossible. The tees... be prepared to use a hammer to get one in. The greens, on the other hand, are Russian roulette: some are very slow, others are very fast, others you just can't even read. There's no consistency. The most frustrating thing is that this course holds scramble tournaments every month, and they're always full. How is it possible that a course with so much participation is in such terrible condition? It's embarrassing. The players deserve much more for their time and money. Costa Caribe has potential, but right now it's disrespectful to any golfer.

Played on 5/27/25. One of the worst unkept courses Ive seen. Not maintained at all. Fairways are all hard compact dirt, greens have dead patches, and you can't tell which tee boxes are which. $124 for old clubs and a cart. Don't waste your money.

Played some bad courses in my time but this is the worst. Wish I could give this a negative star. Don't be fooled with the price. Most unkempt piece of crap I have played. Speaking of crap there was horse shit in some fairways and hoof marks on greens. Don't believe the photos. You have been warned.

I like it. I am happy to see the mushrooms, white birds and a bear 🐻 cloud. Just bankers are not maintained with sand.

Worst golf course in the island. Can’t believe it is private. The practice putting green has not been maintained in years. Definitely a change in administration is needed or something. Nice layout. Just see the pictures.

Decent track, lackluster service, lackluster assessment on the course, no marshal, lack of golf carts, 6 players on holes, Advise range closed while seeing people on range. Paid parking Grill/ restaurant open at 12 Check in AT TEE TIME NOT BEFORE. As... " we are not strict over here" Tbh not terrible, but not great.
