Alling Golf Club

New Haven, Connecticut, USASouthern Connecticut

Alling Golf Club offers a thoughtful 18-hole parkland course in New Haven with a blend of classic charm and updated features. Its approachable yet strategic layout suits golfers across skill levels, with steady improvements enhancing playability and pace.

Course Overview

Alling Golf Club in New Haven, Connecticut, presents an evolving challenge on a well-maintained 18-hole layout that combines classic parkland features with subtle modern touches. The course stretches across gently rolling terrain, weaving through mature trees and open fairways that respond well to a variety of shot shapes. Originally designed with a traditional approach, recent renovations have sharpened the course's competitive edge while maintaining a welcoming feel for all levels of golfers.

Players will find a balance of risk and reward, with several holes offering strategic options that test course management as much as shot execution. Fairways are generally generous, providing forgiving landing areas, yet the approach shots require careful navigation around well-positioned bunkers and undulating greens. The greens themselves present moderate speed and subtle breaks, encouraging thoughtful reads and precise putting strokes.

The landscape reveals occasional water features that come into play on select holes, adding both aesthetic appeal and tactical complexity. Under normal conditions, the course plays to a par in the mid-70s range with yardage approaching 6,600 yards from the back tees, though multiple tee boxes ensure an accessible challenge for mid- and high-handicap players.

Amenities include a clubhouse that serves as a hub for members, offering locker rooms and a lounge area conducive to relaxing before or after the round. The club’s commitment to upkeep is evident throughout the course, with consistent improvements noted in turf quality and conditioning. The layout encourages walking, with terrain that is mostly smooth and manageable, though good golf shoes are recommended for wet or early-season play.

Alling Golf Club welcomes those seeking a classic New England golf experience rooted in tradition yet responsive to modern demands. Its recent enhancements have rejuvenated both the fairways and the pace of play. Whether early in your golfing journey or aiming to sharpen your game, this course offers a rewarding round defined by strategic choices and natural beauty.

Not worth it. Course was running 30 mins behind on a Saturday morning. Course conditions sub optimal. With so many good courses in CT, skip this one until they get it together.

This course has undergone an amazing transformation over the past few years and should only improve with the new renovations. It is a fun and challenging layout. The course is well kept and pace of play has significantly improved. New online booking system makes it easier to schedule and pay for a tee time compared to how things used to be years ago. Kyle and Ian have done a great job bringing the course back to life. Great system, great customer service, great management. Can’t wait for my next round

Dumbfounded…..their website doesn’t work to book a tee time, you just get unexpected error. they refuse to hold the time over the phone, I called they said everything online….ok well online doesn’t work so I guess I’ll golf elsewhere. Way to run a course Quick update….they actually charged my card 4 times total. 3 charges from the online attempts that kept saying error and one time for an over the phone attempt. I then gave a totally different card over the phone with a different name and credentials attached….still error message. Absolute nightmare. YOUR SYSTEM CLEARLY DOESN’T WORK, don’t blame me. My statement clearly shows your pending charges with enough available balance to cover them all lol. After 45 minutes in phone calls I finally have a tee time reserved but who knows how much I’ve paid lol Card worked with absolutely 0 issues for that $105 in shape charge right after! What a joke. Terrible customer service terrible system terrible management. Will play this one round and can guarantee I’ll never return
