San Diego, California, USASouthern California

Mission Trails Golf Course is a public 18-hole layout offering a balanced, approachable round in San Diego's scenic eastern neighborhoods. Course Overview

Mission Trails Golf Course in San Diego offers an 18-hole public layout that balances accessibility with subtle strategic challenges. Located at 7380 Golfcrest Place, this course unfolds over a gently rolling landscape framed by Southern California’s characteristic chaparral and open spaces. Its playable yet engaging design ensures golfers of all skill levels can enjoy the round without feeling overwhelmed, making it a favored destination for locals and visitors alike. The fairways run wide enough to encourage a free-swinging approach but require thoughtful club selection, especially as the greens present a variety of subtle contours that invite careful putting.

The course plays to a par 72 from the back tees, with a total yardage stretching just over 6,200 yards. While not daunting in length, the layout demands precision around bunkers that strategically guard the greeneries, urging players to focus on shot placement rather than power alone. Players will find the terrain includes mild elevation changes, providing glimpses of the surrounding hills and open scrubland that define the area’s natural charm.

Mission Trails embraces a practical approach to design that welcomes both novices looking for a relaxed round and more experienced golfers seeking a consistent challenge without excessive penalties. The greens, when well-maintained, are responsive though they have seen variable conditioning depending on seasonal maintenance. Practice enthusiasts will appreciate the dedicated driving range and short game area, while the pro shop offers helpful staff ready to assist with equipment needs and local tips.

Walking the course is encouraged to fully engage with the layout’s flow and terrain, although golf carts are available for those who prefer. Comfortable footwear is recommended due to the course’s subtle slopes and sandy soil. The clubhouse presents a comfortable spot to regroup after 18 holes, featuring food and beverage options that suit a casual golfer’s needs.

With its blend of thoughtful design, natural environment, and accessibility, Mission Trails Golf Course serves up a well-rounded golf experience within San Diego’s eastern neighborhoods.

This place is doing awesome. They must have a new green keeper, which is looking better than ever. Don't forget to take advantage of their players' club membership

This was a nice public course at a good price. We enjoyed our round today and the pace of play was a little slow but not bad. No yardage markers but we used the 18 Birdie app to give us distances. Fairways were average but greens were nice. We will definitely come back.

Course is in good condition, pace of play great. Joined the men's group and enjoyed a fun 5 club tournament. Looking forward to enjoying the course, other players and 19th hole. Note: you need rakes at every bunker.

This course charges full price during green aeration. Cannot believe I paid $55 to walk this course. They did not communicate that the course was under maintenance, and I had to figure it out myself on the first green. Everywhere I’ve played in San Diego has discounted green fees when greens have been sanded/stamped. Practically had to beg the two guys in the pro shop for a free bucket of range balls (that expired same day lol). Save your money and go elsewhere. There are plenty of cheaper, well maintained tracks in the area. Edit: It appears someone from the pro shop replied to my review. I am aware that courses require maintenance. The issue is charging customers full price during aeration. Mission Trails utilizes a “dynamic” pricing system, so they easily could lower the price during periods of course maintenance.

The pro shop staff was helpful and friendly. The price was right, and we played fast. Also, I recommend the tuna sandwich at the turn.
