Oak Quarry Golf Club

Riverside, California, USASouthern California

Oak Quarry Golf Club presents a striking 18-hole challenge set within a former quarry's dramatic landscape. Combining significant elevation changes and carefully sculpted terrain, this public course offers a mountain-urban golfing experience that rewards strategy and precision.

Course Overview

Carved into the rugged terrain of Riverside, California, Oak Quarry Golf Club challenges golfers with a layout that demands thoughtful shot-making and rewards strategic course management. This public 18-hole course occupies a striking former quarry site, blending raw geological features with meticulously maintained fairways and greens. The course's design capitalizes on steep elevation changes and panoramic vistas, creating a playing experience filled with visual intrigue and tactical variety.

Oak Quarry’s style is best described as a mountain-urban hybrid, where exposed rock faces and earthwork bunkers frame each hole. The terrain shifts sharply, requiring players to adjust club selection often and consider the effects of elevation on distance and ball flight. Fairways wind through dramatic cliffs and plateaus, while the greens present subtle breaks that can frustrate even low handicappers. The setting, marked by the interplay of jagged stone and manicured turf, leaves a lasting impression beyond typical golf landscapes.

The course yardage measures approximately 7,000 yards from the back tees with a par of 72. Its routing offers a balanced mix of demanding long holes and precision-testing shorter ones, inviting players across skill levels to engage different elements of their games. Those looking to test their accuracy and course management will find plenty of challenge, while higher handicappers will appreciate multiple tee options that make the slope more approachable without sacrificing character.

Amenities at Oak Quarry Golf Club complement the course’s rugged appeal. The practice facility features a driving range with grass tees plus a dedicated short game area to hone chips and putts. The clubhouse serves as a welcoming hub with food and beverage options that encourage golfers to unwind while overlooking the 18th green and its adjacent lake. Staff members are noted for their attentive service, enhancing the overall visit with seamless support and local insight.

For players planning a visit, walking is feasible but demands sturdy footwear due to the course’s steep undulations and rocky surfaces. Carts are available, which many find preferable given the terrain and length of play. Early tee times can help avoid slower pace issues on busier days. Oak Quarry offers a distinct golf experience in Southern California—one that captivates with its rugged beauty and tests a full range of golfing skills.

Course Highlights

Oak Quarry’s standout elements include its unique quarry setting with exposed rock walls, significant elevation shifts that require careful club selection, and a well-maintained practice facility with grass tees. The 18th hole, featuring a water hazard adjacent to the green and panoramic views, is often highlighted as a memorable finishing challenge.

My favorite course hands down of all time. Ranked number 26th in the US. The views were incredible and the starter Robert was so friendly and kind. He made our day! Practice facility was great with grass tees and short game practice. Would come back again

The pictures speak for themselves. I am happy to play here just once year. We started at 2 and finished at sunset. The course moved slow that day but i did not mind it one bit because id love to spend 5 hrs here.

Haven’t played the course, but I have to call India to cancel a tee time? Lame.

This was our second time playing this course after golfing in the Palm Desert area. It's a beautiful and challenging course to play. I would have given it 5 stars, but they were cutting the grass on several holes. The workers never stopped, and we didn't want to hit one of them in the head with a golf ball. If you did hit, they wouldn't hear fore due to being on a lawn mower. Otherwise, we enjoyed the course.

Overall a great experience. A few fairways were dried out, but greens and Tee boxes were in good shape. I golfed it on a Monday and it seemed like there was a staff shortage. No marshal the entire time so the pace of play was very slow. Carts were great, overall cart path condition is good as well as fairways overall.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A 5-Star Gem – Service, Scenery, and Superb Conditions! Oak Quarry Golf Course in Riverside deserves every bit of this 5-star review. From the moment I arrived, the experience was top-tier. I had misplaced my range finder, and the staff—particularly Leon and Josh—went above and beyond to help locate it. Their professionalism, patience, and kindness stood out and made a lasting impression. As for the course itself? Absolutely pristine. From tee to green, every hole was in excellent condition. The fairways were lush, the greens rolled true, and even the bunkers were perfectly maintained—something you don’t often see! After the round, I grabbed a bite at the clubhouse and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. To top it off, I enjoyed it from their beautiful patio with a stunning view of the 18th green and lake—pure relaxation. Oak Quarry has it all: championship-level golf, exceptional service, and a setting that’s hard to beat. Easily one of the best public golf experiences in Southern California. I’ll be back soon! ⛳️👏
