Course Overview
Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona offers an 18-hole layout that captures the essence of desert golf with a distinctive Southwestern character. This public championship course challenges players with strategic design elements that reward thoughtful shot making and course management. The terrain is peppered with natural desert vegetation, rock formations, and water hazards that demand attention from tee to green. While the arid landscape might suggest a tough playing environment, the course remains approachable for golfers of all skill levels who enjoy a test balanced by fair, wide landing areas on many holes.
The design thoughtfully incorporates multiple options on par 4s and par 5s, presenting risk-reward opportunities that encourage creativity. Players will find the greens generally smooth and true, offering a fair challenge that demands precise approach shots and careful reading. The desert winds occasionally influence play, adding an additional layer of complexity that forces adjustments in club selection and shot trajectory.
Sewailo’s practice facilities and pro shop are well-maintained, providing a comfortable setting for warm-ups or honing short game skills before or after rounds. The clubhouse delivers welcoming service with a grill that serves quality fare, perfect for recharging after a round under the Arizona sun. While golf carts are available, the course’s layout means that distances between greens and carts can be significant in spots, so players with mobility considerations should plan accordingly.
Water hazards punctuate the landscape thoughtfully, requiring situational thinking and precision, particularly on the back nine. The course’s natural elements and careful maintenance offer a memorable desert golf experience distinct from lush parkland courses. Visitors appreciating golf that involves strategic choices and environmental awareness will find Sewailo rewarding and enjoyable. Whether taking on its challenges for the first time or returning for a desert round, this course offers an inviting blend of quality conditioning and Arizona character throughout each hole.
Plan to visit mid-morning or late afternoon to avoid the strongest heat of the day and bring adequate sun protection, as the desert sun is a constant companion during play. Overall Great Course. Played mid April and it was fantastic experience and a good challenge. Tee to Green in very good shape. Only down fall would be conditions of the bunkers being lined with plastic. Friendly knowledgeable staff, and good practice facilities.

Great overall experience. The course was in great shape and gave you multiple options on the Par4’s and Par5’s on how you were going to approach the hole. Greens were in great condition as well. The course staff was nice. Only thing that would’ve changed this from 4 to 5 stars is we didn’t see the beverage cart until 9. If I were in Tucson I would definitely consider going here again!

Visiting from San Antonio and brought a friend to play the course. I had played here about 5 years ago so I knew it was good. Cart attendants, pro shop guys and starter all very friendly and helpful. Course in good shape. Greens ran true and smooth. Lot of water on the course that you have to watch out for. It's a challenging course with several risk/reward holes depending on how far you hit your driver. It's the home course for the University of Arizona. Well stocked pro shop. Had lunch at the grill after. All the food was good. Highly recommend this course. You'll enjoy it.

Played Sewaillo twice this week. Course, Fairways and Greens are in great shape. A few issues are the Bunkers are in bad shape, course golf cart areas are way to far from the greens, using a range finder it was over 100 yards on many holes to walk to hit your ball, unacceptable as I am disabled and it was very difficult for 18 holes and with the heat the beverage cart wasn't seen until calls made to club house each time which needs improvement. I give the course a 6 out of 10. Unfortunately I won't be able to play here again with golf cart restrictions too far out.

First time golfing in Arizona and this experience will have me coming back for more. Great service in the clubhouse and out on the course. The real star of the experience was ofcourse Sewailo’s 18 challenging and beautiful holes honoring the desert scape It encompassed. Thanks Sewailo for making our first desert golf experience top notch.

Have played many courses in Scottsdale and Tucson over the past two months, and was very disappointed with Sewailo. The greens were covered with what the starter referred to as gypsum, though they played even worse than if they had just been punched, making it impossible to control direction or speed. Plus, the many bunkers had their plastic liners exposed, and the sand was very hard. It cost $110 with tax, but I stopped after nine, as it was such an unpleasant experience.
