Mountain View Golf Course & Fiddler's Green
Mountain View Golf Course & Fiddler's Green in Fort Huachuca presents a rugged 18-hole layout marked by rocky fairways and smooth greens. This public military course challenges shot accuracy while offering casual dining and recreational amenities for a refreshing desert golf outing.
Course Overview
Mountain View Golf Course & Fiddler's Green offers an 18-hole experience amid the rugged landscapes of Fort Huachuca, Arizona. This public, military-operated course stands apart from traditional desert layouts by presenting a natural blend of fairways bordered with sand, rock, and native terrain that demands careful shot making. Players will quickly discover that the course’s hard-packed ground and rocky areas require precision off the tee, as errant shots risk unpredictable bounces and contact with surfaces that can challenge even the most durable golf clubs.
The layout balances playability with strategic challenge, catering primarily to those who enjoy a straightforward but physically engaging round. Fairways are generally well-maintained and provide clear landing zones, yet the rough can quickly transition into dirt, rocks, or mud, especially after rain. This contrast means the course tests shot control and course management rather than sheer distance. Greens are highlighted by a smooth putting surface that consistently draws praise for pace and upkeep, offering rewarding putting conditions despite some signs of wear.
Beyond the course, the onsite Fiddler's Green restaurant adds a lively social dimension. It provides a casual setting with food and drink options, along with recreational games like table shuffleboard, darts, and chess that encourage lingering after play. The clubhouse facilities support a welcoming atmosphere for military personnel, families, and local players seeking a relaxed outing.
Golfers considering a visit should prepare for walking in sometimes exposed, uneven terrain and be ready for the course’s idiosyncratic edges. Clubs are best protected when accuracy off the fairway is prioritized, and it’s wise to bring solid footwear for traction on harder surfaces. Rates include cart rentals, but some carts vary in condition, so requesting a newer cart is recommended when possible. Despite its challenges, Mountain View Golf Course presents a unique stepping stone for players who appreciate natural southwestern terrain with practical amenities nearby.
This course reflects a distinctive, no-frills golfing experience that combines rugged environmental character with accessible leisure facilities, making it a memorable stop for those passing through southern Arizona’s military region.
Course Highlights
The course features firm, rocky fairways surrounded by natural desert terrain that influence shot strategy throughout. Smooth, well-maintained greens contrast with the rough’s ruggedness. Fiddler's Green offers a vibrant social hub with food, beverages, and games such as shuffleboard and darts, enhancing the overall visit.

The club house and the price to play and ride was great, but it doesn’t make up for the golf course. There is hard sand and rocks that surrounds each hole on the course. If you were to not make it on the fairway, and happens to hit a rock, there is no telling which way your ball is gonna go. Additionally, hit hard ground and rocks will eat up your clubs. This was more of a one time thing.

Ok layout, greens are a good pace and manicured but a couple are beat up. The fairways are nice but the rough turns into dirt rocks and mud and it does get muddy. This place is not worth 40 bucks with a cart. It’s at most 27 with a cart. It’s not a nice course to be charging that much. Some. Some carts are real janky but they do have some modern carts that are nice. 4 water points on the course need attention they are beat up and janky. C’mon Army, what the hell!

Great course and a very nice putting green, driving range is just driving range. But truly, I used to fish the water hazards when I was a kid, and I love the place. It has been in brought for 25 years .the Crews do great.

Putting green and surrounding grass is perfect! Fiddlers Green is a great restaurant but they need to bring back the dozen wings.

A fun looking place and a friendly staff. Nice bar, table shuffleboard, darts, connect four, chess, and food. The wings looked good, cheese steak looked decent, burger and bun looked good, but I had fried pickles and the fish and chips... wouldn't order the fish portion or fried pickles again, way overcooked but the fries were good. I'll try wings next time.

Rob at the front desk is terrible. Gave attitude as I was trying to book for the scramble a couple days ago and didn’t sound like he enjoyed his job

The greens have been immaculate recently and putting there is really fun, if not frustrating. The views are always amazing.
