The Club at Savannah Harbor

Savannah, Georgia, USASoutheast

The Club at Savannah Harbor offers a challenging 18-hole private golf experience framed by Savannah’s scenic riverfront and marshlands. With well-maintained greens and strategic water hazards, this course balances tradition with Southern charm, making it a standout destination in Georgia’s Lowcountry.

Course Overview

Perched on the banks of the Savannah River, The Club at Savannah Harbor delivers an 18-hole championship experience that blends a Southern Lowcountry ambiance with thoughtful golf architecture. This private facility offers more than just a round of golf - it invites players into a landscape shaped by marshlands, tidal creeks, and mature oaks draped with Spanish moss, creating a setting both serene and demanding. Designed by Robert Cupp with guidance from Sam Snead, the course’s layout embodies classic country club traditions, weaving multiple holes alongside each other to provide strategic variety while keeping navigation straightforward.

The course stretches over a challenging mix of elevation changes and water hazards, but it remains approachable for players of varying skill levels. Well-maintained fairways encourage confident tee shots, balanced by smooth, fast greens that reward precise approach play and thoughtful putting. While the marshes flank several holes, they never feel punishing; instead, they invite golfers to think carefully about shot shape and risk versus reward. The prevailing winds off the river also come into play, demanding adaptability and rhythm.

The Club at Savannah Harbor’s practice facilities are noteworthy, featuring a generous driving range and a large putting green that cater to players seeking to fine-tune their game before setting out. The clubhouse overlooks the course with sweeping views of the Savannah skyline and the iconic Talmadge Bridge, offering a comfortable retreat where players gather for food and drinks after their rounds.

Walkers will appreciate the course’s compact routing and gentle terrain, though sturdy shoes and insect repellent are advisable due to the natural setting. Golf carts come equipped with GPS systems to assist with yardages and strategy, streamlining play across this demanding yet fair layout.

For those visiting Savannah, The Club at Savannah Harbor promises a round shaped by distinctive Lowcountry scenery, thoughtful design, and a welcoming environment that complements the game’s traditions. Whether drawn by the course’s history or its challenging routing, players leave with a sense of having encountered something both refined and rooted in place.

Fun and challenging course. Conditions were excellent. Great practice facilities with range and large putting green that are extremely well maintained. Would highly recommend playing if you are in the area! (Tip: wear bug spray. Not the courses fault at all; just the reality of the golf course around bodies of water. We wore bug spray and had zero issues. Those in our group that did not, was a different story. Will 100% be back to play this course.)

Golfing at The Club at Savannah Harbor was an absolutely unforgettable experience and easily deserves a 5-star review. From the moment we arrived, the service was top-tier—staff were welcoming, attentive, and clearly passionate about maintaining a premier golfing destination. The course itself is a masterpiece, beautifully situated along the Savannah River with stunning views of the historic downtown skyline and the Talmadge Bridge. Each hole offered a unique challenge, with well-manicured fairways, fast greens, and strategic bunkering that kept things exciting without being punishing. I came here while attending a business convention in Savannah and was blown away by the quality of the course and overall experience. The natural Lowcountry scenery, with its marshlands and Spanish moss-draped oaks, adds a serene backdrop that makes every round feel like a retreat. The pace of play was just right, and the carts were equipped with GPS, which was a nice touch for navigating the course and managing distances. After the round, we enjoyed drinks and food at the clubhouse, which offers fantastic views and a relaxing atmosphere. This facility is top-notch across the board. I will absolutely be coming back on my own time. This course is a must-play for any golf enthusiast visiting Savannah.

Course Review: The Club at Savannah Harbor Course History: Situated along the picturesque Savannah River, this course was designed by the renowned Robert Cupp, with input from legendary golfer Sam Snead. Once home to the PGA TOUR's Champions Tour, Savannah Harbor has built a reputation as one of the premier courses in the Southeast. Its rich history and scenic marshland views create an experience that blends tradition with natural beauty. Course Conditions: Even in the middle of winter, the course was in outstanding shape. The greens rolled smooth and true, providing a fair but challenging test, while the fairways, despite being rain-soaked, were lush and well-maintained. It’s clear that the grounds crew here takes great pride in their work. Layout Vibes: The course reminded me of a classic Country Club design, with many of the holes running side by side. This not only creates a nostalgic feel but also helps save a wayward shot or two (I’ll admit, my slice came in handy a few times!). The routing is friendly for all skill levels, while still offering plenty of strategic challenges. Practice Facility: The range and practice areas are top-notch, perfect for warming up or dialing in your game. One standout feature was the massive shipping container set vertically on the range. It wasn’t just functional—it was fun! Hitting it produced the most satisfying PING, and it added a quirky touch to an already great practice area. Pro Shop Saves the Day: I managed to forget my golf shoes, but the pro shop came to the rescue with a fantastic selection to choose from. The staff went above and beyond, offering helpful advice and ensuring I was ready for my round. Their friendliness and professionalism added to the overall experience. Memorable Hole Alert: Aligator Alley, a tight par 4 bordered by marshland on the left, stood out as my favorite hole. Its demanding accuracy and unique layout made it both nerve-wracking and rewarding. It’s a hole that captures the essence of Savannah Harbor—challenging yet unforgettable. If you’re looking for a course that seamlessly blends history, quality, and Southern hospitality, The Club at Savannah Harbor should be at the top of your list. I can’t wait to return—hopefully under sunnier skies!

Played Savannah Harbor yesterday — the course layout and design are great, and conditions were decent overall. Unfortunately, the mosquitos were relentless, even with bug spray and a breeze. Be prepared if you’re playing under the trees. Biggest letdown was the service: the grill was locked mid-afternoon on a Tuesday, no drinks available at the turn, and the pro shop didn’t carry refreshments. We only saw the cart girl twice, and she left before we finished. Great location near downtown Savannah, but the service and amenities don’t match the potential. I won’t be returning.

Played a round of golf first week of June. Mosquitos everywhere! Got bit 40-50 times on the legs, neck, face, hands and over the shirt. Nothing even the insect spray deterred them. The course maintenance should do a better job maintaining the course. Don’t recommend the course during this time.

Stunning corse. Our tee time was 4:03 we were a couple paired up with 2 singles together we played from 3 different tees. No stops at the club house in between and we got our carts back right at 8:05 - the last few holes were really rushed to try and get to it all. The sunset over the bridge on the last few holes was immaculate and the scenery throughout was beautiful. The driving ranges was probably the best I’ve ever been to - all other experiences on metro Atlanta. The wind really picked up making the difficulty go up but the challenge was good. Saw a lot of wildlife our favorite being the alligator the least favorite being mosquitos - bring your bug spray.
