Course Overview
Bridges Golf Course in Madison, Wisconsin offers a straightforward yet engaging 18-hole layout that caters primarily to players seeking an accessible city course with practical challenges. Located just off Shopko Drive, this public facility provides a flat, open design with minimal elevation changes, making it an easy walk for those who enjoy exploring the course on foot. The terrain is defined by generous fairways punctuated with clusters of mature trees and occasional water hazards that demand thoughtful shot placement, especially around the mid to late holes.
Though the course's condition can vary due to its low-lying setting near wetlands, the efforts to maintain true and consistent greens stand out as one of its stronger assets. The putting surfaces offer a smooth roll that encourages precision and strategic putting, providing a satisfying reward when executed well. Despite some areas where fairways and tee boxes show signs of wear, Bridges retains a solid reputation as a practical venue for both novices and more seasoned golfers in search of a low-stress round.
The front nine is well laid out, and guests often appreciate its navigability without feeling crowded by adjacent tees, allowing for a steadier pace of play. The course features modest water elements and wooded patches that add variety without overwhelming players. While there is no on-course beverage service or drinking water stations, the clubhouse bar and pro shop nearby create a welcoming space to relax after completing your round.
With a modest length and flat profile, Bridges Golf Course is especially suited to those who prefer walking and seek a course where skill and patience are rewarded steadily. Visitors will find it an inviting choice for a quick nine or a full 18-hole challenge, with the added perk of a friendly atmosphere and convenient location near Madison’s airport. For players planning a visit, consider bringing bug spray during warmer months and be prepared for variable turf conditions after heavy rains. It's a course that welcomes regular play with flexibility and ease.

Beautiful course! Short enough to walk 9 holes, but long enough that you’re ready to sit at the end. Presents some good challenges with woods and water (only lost 4 balls my first time), but fun to play through. Great location right by the airport!

I used to practice here when I worked in Madison many years ago. It’s always a tough course. Very flat, no slope, greens are pretty flat. It should be named “The Swamp”, bring bug spray. Course is in really rough shape, tee boxes and fairways are a disaster but the greens are beautiful. Greens are fairly consistent and well maintained. No drinking water on course, no drink cart. Really good practice facility with bunker and short game area.

Played front 9 on 6/9/25. Used a Bucky Book coupon, so I paid $20 for 9 with cart. Hole 4 had an area that was roped off (possible water issue). Hole 7 could use some tree trimming near the tee box on the back tees. But other than that, the course was fine. Good value using Bucky Book. Will be back.

Solid city course. Nice bar and pro shop. Staff is usually friendly enough. Course conditions can be better at times, I think parts of it are in lower lying areas and with all the rain we get, things can get soppy. That’s not really their fault though. Some of the greens could use some maintenance, rough can get a bit long and thick. I like the course design and layout, doesn’t feel like you’re right on top of everyone else’s fairways the entire round. Have had some slow rounds (golf in Madison…) but overall it’s a solid course.
