Course Overview
Settlers Bay Golf Course offers an 18-hole playing experience set against the striking backdrop of Alaska's Wasilla landscape. This public course weaves through gently rolling terrain that opens to panoramic views of distant mountain ranges, inviting players to engage with nature while testing their game. The layout favors an approachable style, with generous fairways and well-defined greens that cater to a broad spectrum of golfers. Whether you’re an early-season visitor encountering firmer conditions or arriving in peak summer when the course fully awakens with lush fairways, Settlers Bay encourages a pace that balances enjoyment and challenge.
While the course does not rely on dramatic elevation changes, the natural contours subtly influence shot selection, demanding thoughtful placement off tees and creative strategies around the greens. Bunkers are strategically placed but remain fair, offering enough risk to keep focused play in check. The greens feel receptive, though visitors should note that early season conditions can produce slower roll, a factor that injects a hint of strategy particularly into approach shots and putting.
Beyond the course itself, amenities enhance the overall visit. The clubhouse provides a welcoming space for post-round reflection with casual dining options highlighted by highly recommended burgers, popular among locals and travelers alike. Golfers arriving without their own sets can take advantage of premium club rentals—a practical convenience for guests flying in or traveling light. For those journeying in RVs, on-site electric and water hookups add a layer of ease rarely available at mountain-adjacent courses.
Walking the course is encouraged especially in the summer months, with smooth turf and moderate elevation changes making for an enjoyable stroll. Proper footwear is advised to handle occasional dampness common in the region. The welcoming staff contribute to an inviting atmosphere, supporting an experience meant to blend Alaska’s natural beauty with accessible golf. Settlers Bay stands out as a destination where the landscape quietly shapes each round, inviting players to tune their skills while soaking in unmistakable northern views.

I have no complaints. This golf course was still coming out of its winter slump so it wasn't in its full green lush beauty. However, due to that and it being a little drizzly we had the course to ourselves for most of the day. It was wonderful. Also, if you don't golf the burgers at the restaurant are worth a trip. So relax and eat a burger while you enjoy the beauty of Settlers Bay Golf course and the Alaska mountains.

Nice course, but the price is way out of line. 18 holes with a cart and a bucket shouldn’t cost $100. $20 in gas to get there plus a couple of beers after the round, you’re talking $150. I used to like to play there a couple times a week, not anymore. You need to rethink your pricing scheme.

I'm sure the course will get better as spring progresses, right now it's a little rough. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

ATTENTION GOLFERS IN AN RV: three elect/wtr hookups available on site if you plan to play. For Alaska in early July the fairways were pretty well grown in and although the greens appeared to have been aerated about a week ago they weren't top dressed. Bumpy at this time of year but we had a good round. Generous fairways and greens. Good food at the clubhouse.

Beautiful golf course. The views are beautiful, the staff was friendly and they have the option to rent "premium" clubs which was great since I didn't have my gear with me. For any out of towners, the greens are super slow. This is definitely a must play course in Alaska.

Greens were in great shape and course was fun to play

Great service and people. The only reason for the 4 star is because the course does need some work.
