Course Overview
Palmer Golf Course offers a refreshing links-style experience against the striking backdrop of Alaskan wilderness and distant glaciers. This public 18-hole course stretches across open terrain marked by rolling fairways and few trees, inviting players to navigate its natural contours and shifting winds. Located just minutes from downtown Palmer, the course provides sweeping views of the Alaska Range that often captivate golfers even during play. Its design emphasizes approachability, making it suitable for beginners while still offering subtle challenges for more seasoned players who must gauge the wide-open layouts and changing conditions.
The course plays to a par of 72, with yardage varying by tee to accommodate all skill levels. Smooth putting surfaces demand careful green reading, as gentle slopes can influence shot selection around each hole. Bunkers are modestly placed, guarding key landing areas without imposing excessive difficulty. The proximity to the local airport adds a unique element, with planes taking off and landing nearby, adding an unexpected layer of dynamic energy as you move through the round.
Amenities include a well-maintained driving range and club rental service, though guests should note that rental clubs are priced at a premium compared to other public courses. The clubhouse is a simple, functional facility offering friendly staff support and a relaxed atmosphere where players can unwind after their round. Walking is encouraged and manageable here, with gentle inclines and a landscape that rewards clear footing—good golf shoes are recommended for stability on the sometimes windy course.
Ideal for families, casual golfers, or visitors eager to experience Alaska’s scenic charm on foot or with a cart, Palmer Golf Course balances fun and practicality. Whether trying golf for the first time or seeking a satisfying round under expansive skies, this course invites players to connect with the elements and their own game without pretense or excess.

Our first visit to Alaska and we had to get in a round of golf. We had beautiful weather! Course was in amazing condition. We rented clubs and they were also in great condition. Only complaint is that we got balls with the clubs and so did the other twosome we were playing with. As balls were lost we were unable to keep the numbers different and determine which ball belonged to which player. Overall it was a great day of golf in a beautiful setting! Thank you to the grumpy guy in the pro shop for taking such good care of us!!

Course was in pretty good shape and the views were absolutely spectacular. Course itself is pretty open and not overly challenging but still fantastic views and fun watching the planes take off from the airport that borders the course.

It was my first time golfing and it's really a pretty place to do it! The setting is lovely and we enjoyed playing 9 holes then walking back. I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I'd like to come back and play more.

The driving range is reasonably price. The attendant just gave us some irons when we asked-so not sure. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The course has gorgeous views and watching the parade of planes take off while playing makes this course a real adventure.

Nice links style public course. Great view of mountains and Glacier on clear day. Green fees fairly priced, although club rental is on the expensive side.
