Twisted Dune Golf Club

Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, USASouth Jersey

Twisted Dune Golf Club challenges players with a true links-style 18-hole layout on dune-inspired terrain just outside Atlantic City. With expansive greens, strategic hazards, and natural coastal winds, this public course offers a rugged, authentic golfing experience tailored for those seeking a demanding and rewarding round.

Course Overview

Twisted Dune Golf Club offers an uncompromising test of golf just a short drive from Atlantic City. This public 18-hole championship course unfolds across dune-like terrain with a genuine links-style layout that demands both strategy and precision. The winds off the nearby coastline often play a subtle but influential role, shaping each shot and reminding players that nature is a constant partner in every round.

The course stretches over 7,000 yards from the back tees, featuring a par of 72. Fairways vary from wide-open corridors lined with tall fescue to narrower landing zones guarded by waste areas and water hazards. The greens are expansively tiered and undulating, inviting careful approach shots and delicate putting strokes. Several holes push the limits of distance, while others challenge your ability to shape shots around or over natural dune formations.

Beyond the challenge, Twisted Dune embraces a raw, rugged aesthetic that strips golf down to its essentials. Sand traps often mimic the rough, gritty texture of dune sand rather than traditional white bunkers, enhancing the links feel. The routing encourages walking, with dirt paths skirting fairways and well-marked footing, allowing players to engage fully with the course’s character and pace. It can take around five hours to complete a round, so pacing and stamina are essential considerations.

Facilities include a modern clubhouse offering basic amenities to refresh between holes. Golfers will find carts available but are encouraged to walk. The staff is generally attentive, with a friendly demeanor to ensure a smooth experience despite the course’s demanding nature.

Twisted Dune is best suited for players who relish a stiff yet fair challenge. It rewards thoughtful shot-making and punishes errant drives and misjudged distances. Even those new to links-style golf will appreciate the honest testing grounds and natural beauty that don’t try to impress with gloss but instead with authenticity and toughness.

Whether you seek to sharpen your ball-striking against the elements or simply want to explore a distinctly styled layout in South Jersey, Twisted Dune stands as a memorable and stirring golf destination.

Course Highlights

Twisted Dune’s standout qualities include its authentic links-style design, with expansive tiered greens and rugged natural dunes influencing shot strategy. The course’s sand traps blend naturally into the landscape, and coastal winds frequently test a player’s trajectory control. The layout challenges golfers of all skill levels but particularly rewards those comfortable with long carries and precision iron play.

Awesome course… I rate this a one star because of one person who ruined my experience. Staff is amazing besides one person named Jim. Complete toolbox and cares more about the verticalness on my New Jersey ID. I’m 21 and have been to bars and other places requiring government scanners. Jim almost threw me and my family at because of the ID and because my brother had one of my beers on his side of the cart. I would play again but that guy is something else as well.

Twisted Dune was tougher than I expected, but once I found my rhythm, it turned into a really fun round. The course is beautiful, with a true links-style layout and great conditions. We had a minor issue early on with a ranger concerned about pace of play, though we were actually being held up by a slower group ahead—no big deal. The rest of the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I’d heard the greens were lightning fast, but they rolled reasonably—definitely slower than most private tracks I’ve played. For the price and location, it’s a great value. I’d definitely play here again.

Twisted Dunes is hard! Excellent and extremely challenging design. This may be one of the most difficult golf courses I ever played. Tricks of the eye make approaches and tee shots intimidating. Sometimes expansive tiered greens and narrow to wide angle plays made every shot a true challenge. Also, it’s a little long: some par 4’s from the whites even with a great drive result in a long iron onto the green and some par 3’s may be out of reach for some who play from the whites. The facilities were much better than other reviews reported. I brought my own drinks but I didn’t have to. Cart girl. Dirt paths on both sides of each hole makes the wide fairways easier to deal with and play goes faster, but still allow 5 hours to play. Long fescue areas, plenty of water to hit over, and waste areas. Great mix. Most traps look like the bottom of your aquarium, but a few have real sand. Very high on my list of golf courses to play if you are in the area. Love the challenge! Makes me want to come back.

One of my favorite courses in New Jersey! I played Twisted Dune many times, year-round, back when I was a member of Empire Golf. Always in great shape, it can be long and difficult, but a fun experience every time. We played it many times in the winter when our central NJ courses were closed, with temps in the teens and twenties. Golf, you gotta love it!

Love Twisted’s golf course, but the cart drop guy was a nightmare. We arrived at 11:00 am for a 12:30 pm tee time and he seemed extremely put off by how early we were there. He told us 3 times he didn’t have a cart for us even though we told him each time that was fine and we would walk our bags to the range. When our friends pulled in around 11:40 and said their tee time he said “oh, you’re with those guys..” I got my camera bag from my car and was walking with it to the cart he yelled “What’s in that bag?!” When I said a camera and a drone he rudely said “What, are you filming a movie?” I offered to open the bag and he said no. At the end of the round we pulled our bags off and took them to the car and I drove around to the cart return. Same guy. He grabbed his towel to clean our clubs and I said “no thanks, we already got them off.” He said “well, I can’t clean them if you take them off the cart!!” We enjoyed our day, but he was a huge negative. Find a different line of work.
