Oriole Golf Club

Margate, Florida, USASouth Florida

Oriole Golf Club in Margate, Florida offers an 18-hole, par-71 course that blends approachable design with subtle challenges. Featuring well-maintained fairways, fast greens, and inviting practice facilities, this members-only layout caters to players seeking both strategic golf and a relaxed atmosphere.

Course Overview

Oriole Golf Club in Margate, Florida provides a grounded, rewarding golf experience well suited to a broad spectrum of players. This 18-hole, par-71 layout presents a thoughtful balance between challenge and playability, making it an inviting option for both intermediate golfers and those seeking a test without undue frustration. Located just off Margate Boulevard, the course occupies a flat coastal plain typical of South Florida, where well-maintained fairways run alongside water hazards and clusters of native palms. The environment offers a refreshing break from the region’s busier courses, with plenty of breathing room and natural light filtering through the trees.

Players will find that Oriole’s design encourages strategic shot-making rather than brute force. Several holes demand careful club selection and precise approach shots to greens guarded by bunkers and water. Although the course is not long by championship measures, the fast greens and occasional swirling winds keep focus sharp through every round. The way water creeks along the left side of the back nine provides subtle drama without overpowering the overall flow.

Practicing before your round is straightforward here, thanks to the well-kept driving range and dedicated short game facilities. The chipping and putting areas attract consistent use from members honing their touch. Off the course, the clubhouse supports a relaxed atmosphere where players can unwind; the bar receives notable praise for its quality food and welcoming vibe, making it a popular post-round gathering spot.

While the layout suits a broad range of golfers, players intending to walk should allow ample time for their round, as pace of play can be moderate. Carts are available on request, though the relatively flat terrain makes walking an accessible option for most. The club operates on a members-only basis, with guest play coordinated through invitations, preserving a low-key, community feel.

Oriole Golf Club is a practical, unpretentious choice among South Florida’s golf offerings. It rewards thoughtful play and provides an enjoyable day where focus on fundamentals can shine. Whether you come to warm up your short game or face an engaging 18-hole after work, this Margate layout holds steady as an understated gem.

I actually really enjoyed this courses layout and length. The Issue was they didn’t mention the greens were just punched. Not online, not when you pay… $65 for a surprise when you walk up to the first green plus all time and effort for that slap on the face was kind of lame. Even paid for a bucket of balls to warm up… 1000 percent should have been comped to anyone playing a round of punched greens at full price?…. We asked the cart guys after the round if there was anything they could do for the “inconvenience” aka ripoff they said good luck… while not their fault, this round felt a bit on the unfair side for again… full price. I’ve worked at courses before. You tell your customers when they book, pay, or last at best a sign when they pay? Customers deserve better. 4 stars otherwise. Good burger at the bar.

The course is great. A good few holes that provide a challenge or require some decision making. Just be prepared for a 6 hour round. Also the guys in pro shop act like they don’t want you playing there. Grumpy old men. Course is great though, just super slow pace of play.

I wanted to share my experience to help others make an informed decision. The course itself is in decent shape—challenging layout, fast greens. Unfortunately, the behavior of the staff, particularly the head pro Dave, made the day less enjoyable than it should have been. Stopped for a snack at the turn (standard practice at most courses). Within minutes, David approached us with an aggressive and condescending tone. He provided no clear instructions and went straight to anger. His demeanor was not what you would expect from a head golf pro. There are plenty of courses in the area with equally good, if not better, conditions and much better hospitality. Unless there is a change in staff attitude I don’t see the point in spending money here.

Best burger in Broward County and under $10! Hand pattied burger. Thick and cooked to your liking and the sauce and sautéed onions are the bomb. Go in and get a beer, the Oriole Burger and watch some games. Tanya the bartender is great! Enjoy and don’t tell everyone!

Better hospitality than a private course

Teed off @ 6:45 for 9 before work! Doesn't get any better than that. Course and greens in excellent shape. Reasonable rates. Go play....

Excellent experience with the driving range. The $30 range pass is a great value and the staff was super helpful getting started and give me directions to the various areas I can practice the grass on the driving range was in great shape and rotated frequently. Also enjoyed the chipping, green and putting in green although there was competition for space with all the regular golfers would recommend it will return.
