The Glen Golf Park

Madison, Wisconsin, USASouth Central Wisconsin

The Glen Golf Park in Madison offers an 18-hole, par-32 course that blends approachable parkland-style play with challenging undulating greens. Its recent renovations have refreshed the layout, making it suitable for beginners and experienced golfers alike seeking a quick yet engaging round.

Course Overview

Located in Madison, Wisconsin, The Glen Golf Park offers a refreshing blend of accessibility and thoughtful design that caters to golfers of all skill levels. This 18-hole facility presents a par-32 layout stretched across a compact footprint, inviting players to enjoy a brisk yet engaging round that balances challenge with pace. The course’s terrain embraces gentle undulations and elevation changes that add visual interest without overwhelming newer players or forcing constant club selection adjustments.

The course plays as a modern parkland-style layout, featuring open fairways bordered by well-placed bunkers that demand accuracy but reward smart strategy. The recently renovated greens, crafted by the Kaiser brothers, provide large, undulating putting surfaces that test short game finesse while retaining fairness. These renewed green complexes are the highlight of the course, as their varied contours invite a range of pin placements and shot-shaping opportunities throughout the season.

Surrounding the grounds, the layout is framed by a mix of mature trees and open spaces, creating a sense of separation between holes without the intimidation factor found on longer championship courses. The practice green and putting area have been updated, adding a valuable option for warming up or refining strokes. The manageable length of the course makes it especially appealing to beginners and casual golfers looking for a quick round, but the thoughtful design elements hold appeal for players seeking subtle strategic tests.

The Glen Golf Park emphasizes a smooth pace of play; a typical round can be completed in under two hours during off-peak times, perfect for busy schedules or early morning games. Walking is encouraged, with terrain gentle enough for most players, although comfortable footwear is recommended given the varied surfaces.

As a public facility with recent renovations, The Glen Golf Park strikes a balance between earnest playability and a welcoming environment. Whether you’re sharpening your short game or just looking to capture some early-season golf in Wisconsin, this course offers a smart, accessible option for players eager to experience a well-maintained, approachable design with a nod to modern green construction.

What a great change to the course with the new greens. Always busy and lots of kinds of golfers. The practice green is awesome and fun to play.

Great new overhaul by the Kaiser brothers of Sand Valley fame. A short, fun par 32 with excellent bunkering and large, undulating greens. The greens need a year or so to mature and quicken up but otherwise the new design is fantastic and it’s a great value. Will be back many more times.

Visited town and this was a truly delightful round of golf. The course design (undulating greens, open fairways) makes it interesting for more experienced players while also very playable for beginners. You're gonna have fun while also rarely losing a golf ball. Course conditions were also great. Pace of play was good for a holiday morning, got around in 1:40. Although I can't speak to other courses in the city, this place is a gem and I wish each city in the US had a course like this.

Fun little track to get your golf fix. Holes are all unique and challenging. Nice elevation changes and fairways and greens in great shape on a weekday July morning. Perfect for getting a quick round in before work. **Update: new renovations open up the course a little bit and bring an update vibe to the park. Putting course is neat and a good challenge. Love the new green complexes...overall a worthy improvement.**

As someone who’s been golfing for barely a year, I love it here! The courses aren’t too long, and games can go super fast! Just gotta be careful on the first hole you don’t shank it right into a car! I may never beat the guys in 9 holes, but I’ll be going with them every game!
