Bridges Golf Course
Bridges Golf Course provides a refreshing public golf experience in Madison with its flat, water-tinged layout and approachable challenges. Ideal for players seeking strategic shot-making over elevation, the course blends accessible playability with reliable facilities near the airport.
Course Overview
Bridges Golf Course offers golfers a straightforward yet engaging 18-hole experience just east of downtown Madison, Wisconsin. This public municipal course stretches over a modest layout that challenges players without overwhelming them, making it an approachable destination for a range of skill levels. The course plays primarily on flat terrain, weaving through areas where water hazards and wooded sections punctuate the fairways, providing moments of strategic interest and visual variety.
The flatness of the layout creates a unique test that emphasizes shot placement and green reading rather than brute distance or elevation changes. Many holes feature water hazards that come into play, demanding precise club selection and controlled approach shots. While some fairways are sheltered by mature trees, others open up, offering a brief respite that allows players to focus on rhythm and tempo amid the Wisconsin air. The greens, known to be well-maintained and fairly consistent in speed, reward careful putting and thoughtful navigation.
Though the course’s terrain can hold moisture after rainstorms, contributing to softer fairways and deeper rough, it remains a popular spot for daily golfers and practice rounds. Its location near the airport adds convenience, making it a practical choice for visitors and locals alike. Amenities include a clubhouse with a welcoming pro shop and a casual bar area, providing a friendly atmosphere to unwind after play.
For those planning a visit, walking is encouraged and comfortable due to the course’s gentle topography, although golfers should be prepared for occasional wet ground conditions. There is no drink cart service on the course, so bringing refreshments is advisable. The practice facilities nearby include a short game area and bunker to sharpen skills.
Whether you’re stepping away from a busy day or eager to work on your game, Bridges Golf Course delivers a practical, unpretentious setting where the game’s subtleties come forward without distraction. Its blend of water challenges and flat, open fairways presents an inviting puzzle that tests strategy over power.

Beautiful course! Short enough to walk 9 holes, but long enough that you’re ready to sit at the end. Presents some good challenges with woods and water (only lost 4 balls my first time), but fun to play through. Great location right by the airport!

I used to practice here when I worked in Madison many years ago. It’s always a tough course. Very flat, no slope, greens are pretty flat. It should be named “The Swamp”, bring bug spray. Course is in really rough shape, tee boxes and fairways are a disaster but the greens are beautiful. Greens are fairly consistent and well maintained. No drinking water on course, no drink cart. Really good practice facility with bunker and short game area.

Played front 9 on 6/9/25. Used a Bucky Book coupon, so I paid $20 for 9 with cart. Hole 4 had an area that was roped off (possible water issue). Hole 7 could use some tree trimming near the tee box on the back tees. But other than that, the course was fine. Good value using Bucky Book. Will be back.

Solid city course. Nice bar and pro shop. Staff is usually friendly enough. Course conditions can be better at times, I think parts of it are in lower lying areas and with all the rain we get, things can get soppy. That’s not really their fault though. Some of the greens could use some maintenance, rough can get a bit long and thick. I like the course design and layout, doesn’t feel like you’re right on top of everyone else’s fairways the entire round. Have had some slow rounds (golf in Madison…) but overall it’s a solid course.
