Packsaddle Ridge Golf Club

Keezletown, Virginia, USAShenandoah Valley

Packsaddle Ridge Golf Club delivers a demanding mountain golf experience with 18 holes of narrow fairways, elevation changes, and panoramic views in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. This course rewards accuracy and stamina amid rugged terrain and rich wildlife, offering a brisk, memorable round for intermediate to advanced players.

Course Overview

Packsaddle Ridge Golf Club stands as an engaging 18-hole mountain course that challenges players both strategically and physically amid its striking natural setting in Keezletown, Virginia. The layout presents a blend of narrow fairways, elevation changes, and demanding greens that invite thoughtful club selection and precise shot-making. From the first tee, golfers are greeted by sweeping vistas that extend across the rolling hills of the Massanutten region, accompanied by abundant wildlife that adds an element of quiet intrigue to each round.

This course offers a compelling test suitable for intermediate and advanced golfers, though players of varied skill levels will find moments to enjoy. Its design favors accuracy over sheer power, especially on the back nine where tighter fairways require measured approaches. The combination of mountain air and elevation shifts keeps pace brisk but engaging, typically allowing rounds under three hours, a welcome break from the crowded conditions found at many nearby courses.

While maintenance presents occasional challenges, Pack Saddle Ridge’s character remains intact. Fairways and greens fluctuate in condition depending on the season, but the overall experience is defined by the terrain’s rugged charm and the rewarding shot values that come with navigating natural contours. Players should be prepared for uneven lies and carry provisions for walking, as the course invites a full physical engagement with its slopes and undulations.

Facilities at Packsaddle Ridge are modest but functional, catering primarily to golfers seeking a serious outing rather than luxury amenities. The friendly staff contributes to a welcoming atmosphere, underscoring the club’s appeal as a less trafficked alternative to busier regional venues. For those planning a visit, early morning tee times often offer the best course conditions and the clearest views, when sunlight casts depth into the valleys below.

In sum, Packsaddle Ridge Golf Club challenges the golfer’s skill amid evocative mountain scenery, rewarding precision and patience. It offers a memorable golf experience balanced between natural beauty and course strategy for those willing to engage fully with its unique landscape.

Great layout, great views, poor maintenance. I play here on and off, because it's typically quiet, and not packed. Makes for a nicely paced round. Problem is, the course is quiet because the maintenance suffers tremendously. The course layout is great, with some nicely challenging holes and good decision making strategy. But the fairways are almost always like rough, and many of the greens are burnt out with bare spots, or just mowed poorly. The tee boxes are rarely mowed as well. I've had balls in play, in the 'fairway' and not been able to find my ball. The condition makes it hard to justify the price. But I still come back because I can play 18 in less than 3 hours, which is a nice alternative to being jammed into 7 minute tee times at other local courses. If they got their maintenance together, it would really be an enjoyable course, with some excellent views and challenges. But the condition is worse than any course within 100 miles, sadly.

Delightful. The stunning setting is tough to beat, and speaks for itself. (Take a minute to enjoy the bench atop 13.) The layout is a wonderful challenge. Drive straight, and you’ll score well. Don’t? Sorry, but bad things happen. Then there are the special people working. Natasha and Liam are amazing!!! Helpful in every way, for all normal golf needs, of course, BUT… we lost something very special, and valuable (not a stupid phone) that afternoon. They went above and beyond to help. They were calling me for the next week, checking in. Finally, it was found, and they shared in our joy!! Thank you to you both. This event further confirmed that Packsaddle will be our primary retirement course. Thanks again!!!

Well-designed course with fantastic staff. Conditions aren't the greatest, but for the price it's a great deal. My one recommendation would be for the course to use Golf Now or TeeItUp for reservations instead of Chronogolf. Most folks I know are using that and it would likely drive the visibility of the course up when people search for courses near Harrisonburg. I meet tons of people in the Shenandoah Valley who don't even know that Packsaddle is out there and it's always my first recommendation.

Very challenging mountain course with breathtaking views. I wanted to take pictures every hole. Lots of wildlife and a piece of heaven. I’ll be coming back here when I come back to this area. Best course I’ve played in years.

We were in town for a wedding from WI. We stopped here to play Saturday morning. It was absolutely beautiful, you cannot beat these views. The amount of wildlife on the course was astounding and I loved every bit of it. You can tell they are doing as much as they can to make things better. Some of the greens were a bit rough, but it was still an awesome time and I would come here again. Highly recommend if you are an average golf player, just looking to have some fun with friends and family.

Very challenging course, narrow fairways on back. The day I played it was very wet and the course hadn't been mowed. It was cart path only so that added to the challenge. The people at the course were all very nice.
