Aspen Golf Club

Aspen, Colorado, USARocky Mountains

Aspen Golf Club offers an inviting 18-hole public course set amid the Rocky Mountains, blending approachable playability with stunning natural scenery. Its parkland-style layout encourages players of varying skill levels to enjoy thoughtful design and mountain air in equal measure.

Course Overview

Aspen Golf Club offers an 18-hole public course set against the striking backdrop of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Its elevated location shapes a playing experience defined equally by natural beauty and approachable challenge. The layout combines gently rolling fairways with strategically placed bunkers and small, undulating greens that demand thoughtful shot selection without overwhelming the average player. This balance makes Aspen Golf Club welcoming to a broad spectrum of golfers, from beginners seeking to enjoy a scenic round to mid-handicap competitors aiming to test their precision.

The course’s parkland-style design leans into its mountain surroundings, with stretches of tall pines framing holes and occasional glimpses of aspen groves that give the course its name. Elevation changes are subtle yet notable, adding variety to the rhythm of play while maintaining a walkable profile that many visitors appreciate. This sense of terrain encourages a fluid pace, rewarding golfers who embrace strategic club choices and controlled iron play.

Amenities enhance the visit without overwhelming it. The clubhouse provides a relaxed setting before or after your round, with a bar that receives praise for attentive service and a diverse selection of drinks. On-course beverage carts circulate regularly during summer months, offering refreshments to keep players refreshed amid the mountain air.

Visitors should prepare for seasonal variations; summer rounds offer the best conditions and full course availability, though ongoing maintenance projects can impact certain holes intermittently. Walking is encouraged here, and sturdy footwear is advisable due to uneven footing along fairway edges and natural debris.

Aspen Golf Club’s blend of natural scenery and thoughtfully designed holes creates a memorable mountain golf experience. It invites golfers to engage with both the landscape and their own game, making each round a layered encounter with the Colorado outdoors that’s accessible without sacrificing a measure of challenge.

Course Highlights

This course stands out for its mountain setting offering stunning views and moderate elevation shifts. The parkland layout is enhanced by natural pine and aspen trees, while bunkers and varied green contours create a strategic test without excessive difficulty. The on-course beverage service receives frequent praise, adding comfort to the mountain round experience.

$225 for a round at a municipal golf course? Not worth it. Stunning views is about it. Course is very average to quirky layout. When I played this summer at least 3 holes were under construction with temporary tees, but they still charged full green fee. Starter was about the most rude I've encountered. Will not return. Again $225 for a muni... only in Aspen.

Played 18 holes here recently during the summer and it was an amazing experience. Beautiful course with amazing landscape scenery all around. Unfortunately there was a bit of traffic in front of us so we had to wait a good amount to keep some space between the people in front and the people behind (which were complaining to us). Also, the bar service out on the course was great, they had multiple different cocktails, beers, and drinks available.

We come to Aspen every summer and play golf here. The course and practice facilities are nice. Only negative is the staff. I have find them consistently less than friendly.

Nice course, extremely disappointing interaction with the head pro. Not a nice enough course to interact with him again after their customer service.
