Course Overview
Colwood Golf Center offers a distinctive golfing experience in Portland, Oregon, focused on short game development within a lively and approachable setting. This 18-hole par-3 layout encourages players to sharpen their iron play and putting skills while enjoying a front-row view of the Pacific Northwest’s lush greenery. The course is public and designed to accommodate a wide range of golfers—from beginners learning fundamentals to seasoned players refining precision shots under varied wind conditions that tease control and tempo.
The course stretches across compact yet thoughtfully crafted holes that demand accuracy more than length. Each green is guarded by well-maintained bunkers and subtle elevation changes that reward strategic thinking and shot shaping instead of brute force. You’ll find the pace relaxing overall, although weekends can bring a busier atmosphere, so early morning or twilight tee times are ideal to avoid congestion and foster a more focused round.
Colwood’s setting blends elements of parkland character with the regional climate’s natural contours, allowing wildflower borders and mature trees to frame fairways without overwhelming the course footprint. The environment invites a pace of play that suits walking enthusiasts, with level walking surfaces and well-kept paths that pair well with weather-appropriate footwear.
In addition to the course, the facility boasts a robust driving range, spacious practice greens, and chipping areas that bolster skill-building outside of round play. Friendly staff support an inviting atmosphere, reinforcing the center’s reputation as a community hub for all levels of golfers seeking both challenge and casual enjoyment.

I had such a great time playing at Colwood Golf Center’s Par 3 course! The course is super well-maintained, and it’s perfect for a casual, fun round whether you’re newer to golf or just want to work on your short game. The layout is beginner-friendly but still offers a bit of a challenge, which keeps it interesting. Staff were really friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere overall was relaxed and enjoyable. Definitely a great spot to spend an afternoon outdoors — I’ll be coming back for sure!

Course is well maintained, has tricky greens, and is affordable. However, it has the slowest pace of play I've ever experienced in 20 years of golf. Not like "busy and backed up" rather slow as in people are playing that don't know how to play. The 4 some of late teens after of us took 10 minutes to tee off on each hole. They then spent 5 minutes crawling around in bushes. Then they each individually took 2/3 shots on to the green then individually putted, then the next person would repeat their series of approach shots and putting, then the next person and the next. Each hole was agonizing slow. We ended up going around and squeezed ahead of them (the group ahead of the teens were walking to their green when teens were still on their fairway). The group ahead of us was a 4 some of older guys and they too were slow. We ended up golfing 6 holes in total. We'll try to go back at twilight on a weekday or early in the morning. But middle of day on a weekend is torture. Management should make an better effort to move people at a reasonable pace even if they're learning.

This was my first time visiting the driving range. Ended up getting a punch pass for 10 large buckets for $85. The signs posted that show an overview of the yardage are faded and could be updated. The mats were in great condition and the staff was really friendly. Definitely a place I’ll be visiting going forward! Update: Decided to play a round of golf (18 holes). The curse is a 3-par with variation from hole to hole. Recommend you try a round yourself.

One of the few par 3 courses in the Portland area, and a stand out at that. Very affordable and well maintained. Solid driving range and practice facility. Often busy but not too busy. Casual compared to most courses so it's well suited for beginners but developed players will have a good time working on their short irons and short game.

Great driving range. $13 for a big bucket. Nice practice greens. Putting and chipping. Weekdays $21 to walk $31 to drive a cart.
