Mountain View Golf Course

Boring, Oregon, USAPortland Metro Area

Mountain View Golf Course in Boring, Oregon offers a refreshing 18-hole parkland layout framed by towering evergreens and gentle elevation shifts. This public course blends walkable terrain with natural challenges that engage golfers of all skill levels.

Course Overview

Mountain View Golf Course offers an 18-hole challenge set against the lush backdrop of Oregon’s rolling woodland just outside Boring, OR. This public course presents a parkland-style layout that blends natural forested areas with open fairways lined by tall evergreens, creating both a visual retreat and a strategic golf experience. Golfers who arrive will find a course that demands precision off the tee, with fairways that reward a straight, well-placed drive while steadily weaving between mature trees and subtle elevation changes.

The course plays to a par 71 and features a total yardage that pushes players to think carefully about club selection and shot shape. It balances approachability for mid-handicappers with a subtle challenge for more advanced players, especially on holes where tight driving lanes and undulating greens come into play. The greens often slope in ways that encourage thoughtful putting and test green-reading skills, adding a quiet complexity to every round.

Mountain View’s setting leans into the Pacific Northwest’s natural beauty without overwhelming the layout, allowing golfers to focus on their strategy while enjoying fresh air and peaceful surroundings. The clubhouse, perched above the course, offers a comfortable space to relax post-round. Its bar and dining facilities are well-reviewed for their friendly service and inviting atmosphere, offering a chance to unwind with a drink or a meal while reflecting on the day’s play.

While the course welcomes both walkers and those using carts, players should be prepared for varied footing and some hills, particularly around the back nine, which can feel more rugged. Attention to pace of play is important here, as regular players emphasize a moderate tempo to keep rounds enjoyable for all.

Mountain View Golf Course suits golfers seeking a straightforward yet thoughtfully designed experience in a classic Northwest setting. Its combination of approachable layout and forested challenges creates an inviting option for locals and visitors aiming to enjoy a quality round without the pressure of championship-level difficulty.

Course Highlights

The course is known for its tall, mature trees lining fairways that demand accuracy off the tee. Hole 12 provides a memorable stretch where natural contours challenge both drive placement and approach shots. The clubhouse’s elevated position grants views over several holes and offers a warm, welcoming environment after play.

It's one of my favorite Golf courses! Hole #12, especially... comment below. I've only ran into this situation once or twice. But it was old club members. 5 to a group. But we didn't complain. And they didn't play the back 9. So a little patients goes a long ways. 😉 by the way I just played here today. 😂

Course appeared to be in pristine shape. Nice views , tall trees. Some fairways will challenge your straight game. The clubhouse upstairs very nice place to relax. Great selection of drinks and food. Great place been around a long time for a reason. Also shout out to the drink cart server. Rebecca was another reason to go back. Such a friendly greeting from the minute she showed up.

Our visit to Mountain View was a complete disaster. We booked our tee time in advance over the phone and asked to be placed on the first tee time out, as we play quickly and wanted to finish before work. We were assured that we were the first out for the day at 6AM- only to arrive and witness the pro shop attendant send a group of walkers out ahead of us (we were a twosome in a cart). We planned to play 18 and when we arrived, the same pro shop attendant (who was extremely rude, hadn't had his morning coffee yet on 7/10/25, or was just determined to make everyone else misrable) informed us that we would have to play the front 9 twice, as they were performing "maintenance" on the back 9. Not ideal, but fair enough. As we were finishing the 7th hole, we saw groups on the back 9, meaning that he had lied to us about the back 9 being closed for the day. When asked after the round- he gave us some story about it being "members only" which was not the story we were presented when we checked in. The grounds staff is likely doing the best with the resources they have, so no complaints on course conditions, although puddles on the greens in mid July is not ideal. Overall, I would recommend playing anywhere but here as long as the "gentleman" who staffs the proshop in the mornings is still employed. Maybe he was having a bad day, but his customer service, choice to let someone out in front of us when we were assured the first tee time in the morning, and direct lie about the back 9 being closed for the day was enough to encourage us to never come back. $40 for 9, $59 for 18 and a cart goes a lot further at any other local municpal course in PDX and the surrounding area- make a tee time somewhere else!

I read alot of bad reviews and I should have listened lol. Course condition was awful. Every tee box is a nightmare. They started punching tee boxes at 7am?!!? On a Monday. Never seen that before. Not walker friendly. Front 9 is fine the back 9 was sketchy and exhausting. 10/10 would not recommend nor come back. Hope this helps someone who's on the fence about playing here

Good course in good condition, especially for the first day of March! Felt like the greenskeeper may have been having a bad day or was testing everyone on a Saturday, as I think every hole on the green was placed on a slant...well made things interesting! Great people in the clubhouse and affordable golf. Well worth the visit!

Slow play but not just slow play. Guys bring their girlfriends who’ve never played golf out to play midday on a Sunday. Then you have country boys in boots and Levi’s they can’t play at all and just like to let small kids drive the carts and bomb hole #12 that a super dangerous hill. Yes I won’t be back.

Used to be my local spot to hit after work. Last few times during the week there were like 12 to 15 teenagers teeing off rowdy as hell. Great, have a good time, but pace of play my guys. Not supposed to to. 25 minutes per hole. And the younger dude in the shop could give two poops. I might consider playing there again if marshals are out and if grownups are running things. Note, bar staff get 5 stars and are awesome!

Local Clackamas County Realtor secret spot to sneak in an emergency nine! It's always green and the T-sheet generally got an opening somewhere.
